The hand sketches are excellent, and I love the digital still life. You've got a lot of skill already. I'm looking forward to seeing more.![]()
The hand sketches are great! The digital still life is nice, but has the feeling of a coloured sketch rather than a painting. You should paint over the outline of the box, it really flattens it out. Let your values do the talking. =)
mariposa213: Thank you!
Revidescent: Thank you for your comment; I'll work on painting with value.![]()
Hey Dillon, thanks for checking out my Sb. Love how your breaking down the hands into blocks and labeling them the structural acuracy is definatly showing as a result. I like the tisue box aswell - i was hoping there would be moregreat stuff so far! keep on posting...
awesome start you need to post more and more!![]()
Thanks for the encouraging comments so far. Here's a value study I've just done of a drinking glass. I need to work on doing quicker value studies so I can do more. =)
Sweet glass. And those hands are looking good.
Keep posting.
Here's a quick pastel sketch of the sky outside my window!
The clouds looked really nice, so I wanted to study the colors. I'd like to learn how to paint so I can capture colors with paint.. must keep practicing
Really nice still life and the hand sketches are pretty awesome, I wanna see more variety! Keep up your awesome work.
Here are some more color and digital painting studies. Will be posting some gesture drawings tonight from live model sessions.

Great work so far! Those gestures are nice and loose. Were you drawing a sword fight? There's some good energy in there! Looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you so much for the link to the tutorial! I'll study it today. I really appreciate your helpful comment![]()
Here's an island environment/character sketch study. Slightly unrelated, I'm just this week starting to join in on the weekly challenges here on the CA forums and it's really upping my motivation to draw more.![]()
Really like the color variations on the island character (I think a mix of the blue and green outfit with the orange sash could make for a very vibrant costume) Your hand studies at the top of the thread are really impressive too. They have a very realistic feel to them, not too stylized, not too bland.
Keep up the great work!
- Thanks for your feedback, Art Minded! I'm going to try to re-design the island girl character with the combination blue/green and orange costume. It sounds like it could work really well, thanks!
Yikes, I need to update my sketchbook every day. Here's a sketch I'm working on for fun, and another I want to develop more.
Working on the personal sketches some moreReference helps so much, especially with the colors and trees.
A sketch for today, testing out the brush pen on brown paper.
More studies! Need to draw, draw, draw.
With schoolwork it's hard to fit in personal studies, but I'm going to do more.
Love that feeling when the spark is re-ignited.
So here are some sketches from life.
And a material surface study, from a round object on my desk.
A sketch for fun. Yay!
Inspired by a photo of a tiger here: http://meihua-stock.deviantart.com/a...-3-9-296641271 .
Wanted to play with intense backlighting and colors that I like but don't usually use.
Working on some costume/armor silhouettes for a character for a class.
Your gesture studies are beautiful! Loose, expressive lines are what I need to practice more than anything. Your life studies of various poses look nice too proportion wise...to make them pop a little more try playing around with varying line thickness and high contrast. Those would really bring out the form of the figures and make them look even better.
Here's an update! These are some character and mount sketches I've been working on.
