Really want to go to TAD, but I need some convincing

I'd love to go to TAD. art is what I've always wanted to do since I was a kid, and concept art in particular ever since I learned of the occupation after playing Metroid Prime (which coincidentally led me to Andrew Jones, then here!).

But let's face it, TAD is a bit pricey, especially for an uncredited school. That's not me complaining by the way, from what I've seen, TAD is worth every penny and probably should be charging more! (dont take my advice please). I strive to better my abilities, and I'm willing to do so at whatever cost it takes me. TAD could financially ruin me in all reality.

So what I'm asking is, if you, or anyone you know has gone through the program, just give me some personal experiences, maybe show off how far you've come with a before or after, or anything you think would be good enough to bring up to convince me to go, or not go, whichever side you lie on.

Lemcott, Sencecil is a spammer so just ignore their comment. As far as TAD, have you looked at the costs of other schools? TAD is a downright bargain at its pricing. But if it would devastate you that much financially, have you considered applying part time? You would definitely learn something since the instruction is high caliber and it would give you a feel for the institution.

Unfortunately you are asking for student feedback in the middle of a semester. But did you take a look at the stickies at the top of the page showcasing student work?

There are some before and afters in the student work threads. You are welcome to join us. I would reach out to the tad students directly as they are busy with mid term work right now. Happy to answer any questions as well.

Woot, finally a peaceful morning in Saigon without tons of works must be done. Jason, please stop killing us!!!! (j/k)

@Lemcott: before and after artworks comparison is indeed easy to understand, but for me that's just a gimmick of marketing world and most of advertising stuffs and short courses use that, like "Hey, look at this, this amazing product will make you look prettier!!!"

A complete education doesn't work that way, here we not just make shinier images, we think better, we work smarter. The teachers don't just show us tricks, they demonstrate skills and then inspire us, we value craftsmanship but there're somethings more important as well. Just like in my days in military, just need a week for a grunt to teach someone to use firearm and shoot better, but using that accurately, effectively and tactically requires very best instructors and discipline.

We have that here in TAD.

I agree with fxEVo. Scope a part time class out this upcoming spring and give it a try. You can jump into either foundations A or B classes. It shouldn't break you financially. I found a foundations B class at the beginning of this year and after learning as much as I had from just one class I had to jump in and go full time.

I also understood after taking that one class that it was the amount of work that I put into the class that I learned from and improved from. The teachers are the ones who hand you the flashlight to find your way in the dark. If you are willing to make some sacrifices and cut some expenses you can make it happen if you want to.

    Cheers.
