Question So uh... whats that all about?

So like I've noticed theres a hierarchy going on this website and i mean this in no negative way. Obviously theres Jason Manley and stuff like that and i understand what an admin or mod is... I mean just to anyone like me whose sort of new to this site but does not really know what goes on in the in-person events of this website.

I was wondering if there could be like, a guide LOL of the hierarchy like i always see the user: Arshes Nei like ontop of all the worthwhile posts and ... Art Zealot and stuff.

Do you guys know eachother in real life? Idk i'm probably gonna get torched for this thread and someone is going to post a clever comment and link me so some other section of the website.

Any other new users notice that though? Are those guys like JUST mods? or like heavily involved in the website? like.. whats... whats that all about

As long as you remember that Elwell is your dad and don't think you know better than Kev Ferarra you're probably gonna be all right. And watch out for the cat. I heard he bites...

Mr. Manley - Something to do with pigeons, or was it roosters? I guess you could say this guy is for the birds!
Elwell - There have been allusions drawn to Hitler, but at least Hitler had manners.
    Ilaekae - read this
Kev - leader of the Young Republicans Club.
Arshes Nei - Impressionable youth being groomed by the higher-ups through modhood.
Art Zealot - Hey it's that guy!

Then there's helpful people like Jeff, Chris, dpaint, and others.

The actual hierarchy is unknown. Like Freemasons, the Illuminati and The Pharaohs, much of their rituals are a mystery. If you notice there's a leveling system under everyone's name that lets you know who has the most spare time.

In all seriousness, you get credibility and status by work. Be as helpful as you can be, stay out of the Lounge, and work on your art. Update your sketchbook often. That is how you get to be one of the cool kids.

The people you're asking about have been huge contributors to the community.

"Idk i'm probably gonna get torched for this thread and someone is going to post a clever comment and link me so some other section of the website."

This is one of the truest funniest statements I've ever read here.

I think everyone notices it. Sometimes it's not a good thing. But sometimes it is.

As far as the Elwell thing goes; over time of understanding and reading his posts, it becomes clear that he knows a freaking lot and just posting is him helping. Sometimes he can be sarcastic and come off negatively. You have to brush that off and look at his advice for what it is. And once you stop fighting it, the things he says will begin to do nothing but help you improve lol.

However, there is a SERIOUS case of "I know more than you so I can say whatever I want to you, how can you be so dumb to not use the search function?!?!?!"

It's not a big deal I guess, just expect some rudeness to occur here that you might not see on other forums.

The way I see it, there is no hierarchy really. There's just personality gravity wells of people who participate successfully in the forums. Jason, of course, created this site. And Tristan has a great deal to offer in the way of wisdom and guidance, as well as his artistic contributions, which are impressive. The seeming popularity of all the rest is simply based on how well they vocally contribute in a successful way (re: become popular contributors) to a long standing forum. There are quite a few who regularly do that very well and the rest just gravitate to that.

That's the way I see it, at any rate

    fixed.

Just saying the level of "rudeness" is pretty much the same I've seen on other forums. It happens when people often ask the same questions over and over again. I've seen minecraft forums (for example) with stickies telling you not to ask certain things and people banned for merely skipping over reading them.

Other forums will tell you to lurk more...so this myth that CA.org is meaner than other forums....is just that.

It happens with any popular or long established forums or even lesser ones.

There's a great start already: Honesty.

So be what you are. If you strike an attitude the guys and gals here will see right through it soon enough (though I'm still foolin' 'em).

You'll be called nice things by some and spat on by others and in between you'll also be ignored. But it's like that for everyone.
So just get interested in the topics and post honest responses that think through what's being said.

Because being interested is what counts - for others and most of all, for yourself.

Elwell's one of the nicest people here. I've never seen him negative, and the patience he has with his job - all the admin here have to put up with an awful lot of crap, most of which gets cleaned up before we even see it. The patience and helpfulness of the staff here is mindblowing. I could never stomach some of the trash posts that come along in these forums - i.e. arrogant, racist, spamming, trolling, etc, that goes on for pages and pages - and Elwell always gives people a fair chance to apologize and change their ways.
Most bannings here are just temporary.

There should be an addendum in the hierarchy for those great artists who rarely post, usually just once a year. People like:

    Lukias (Luke Hollis)
    Cicinimo (James Jean)
    Andrew Jones
    Mind Candyman (Jonathan Hardesty)

And many, many others, but hell, I'm tired.

When i say i'd prolly get torched i was being half sarcastic and well... i meant me as an individual in this instance because i am a "dumb person"
wasn't generalizing or saying everyone gets put down on this forum

...even if it sounded that way. i disagree nor do i agree with you Umpa. wow i can't believe this was construed this way... O_O
