rayelian: Between the three I'd go with either the cockpit one or the bottom one, as the compositions are more interesting than the top one. And dammit now that song's on my head! -_- Now I'll be listening to Lonely Island for hours.

I am a huge Macross fan but never get the time to do any related work. I def wanted to do something that could be related to that universe, based around a Valkyrie fighter.

Knocked this up quickly, still very rough, finding the design.

Idea is to have the fighter being prepped for battle as seen from inside the hanger, with a space scene in the BG.

I also wanted to ask (this being my first mecha work) if anyone has to hand any tips or tuts for creating mecha's? Or is it a case of strong referencing?

Definitely digging the colour scheme. Somehow reminds me of Samus Aran from the Metroid game series. Fitting.

I'm guessing I'm alone in that though, since the actual colour scheme is a lot brighter, and slightly different.

Not much of a fan of twiggy schoolgirls in giant gundam bots, I like tough women in brute machinery that can take a beating and still get the job done.

In my head, I decided to take the route of: hey, she's a badass mecha-flying futuristic chick that goes by "The Geisha". Unfortunately, she came out looking a bit like Azn Star-Trek Barbie.

Also, I'm kind of surprised that no one has made an elderly woman character as a joke hahah, I have a great image in my head but I'm having trouble getting it on paper. Think old, round woman in a track suit with curly short hair and glasses.

Hey all, another fun CHoW!

I tried to push this one close to the final since I'll be away from home for the weekend. Spent the whole day on this.. oops!



I had a bit of a struggle with getting the distance/size of the mecha to show, not quite sure I succeeded that well in it, any suggestions?

Very nice everyone Might be a good idea to have the Mech's design reflect the personality of it's pilot. It's all about the pilot, Mech comes in second. hoping to jump on this one.

Are guns required? They're not in the guidelines...

The Guidelines:
Must be female
Must have a mecha
Must have japanese elements (Think text, iconic imagery etc)
Make it fun!
Bonus points if you come up with a design that is more than just 'semi naked hot chick'

or am I just missing something.

Juki: I think the foreground ought to be smaller, or the mecha bigger, for certain. Right now, they're almost lined up head-to-head and foot-to-foot. I fiddled in photoshop to show ye what it'd look if it were bigger.
