Sorry for slow updating, I feel like I'm failing in every aspect of life right now, this really kills motivation and focus on doing my studies. Even breathing feels like work.
Here are some landscape studies (if you can call it that) based on screenshots I made in WoW. Still unable to translate my theoretical perspective knowledge to something like this.
Random stuff from mind:
From mirror:

Some figures, mostly experimenting with a new pencil, and trying to get some life in those bodies.

From imagination:
From life:
New WoW thing. Need to practice mountains/rocks and trees.

BigEfru: Danke. Ja, ins Zocken flüchte ich mich auch gerne... versuche das aber zu minimieren...
Weekly Environment practice, topic was "pirate cove". I thought it means pirate cave, so here you goI tried to do better with the rocks this time, used various references, but couldn’t really stick to them, especially since I didn’t find anything with those lighting conditions. I think I'll spend some time practicing different kinds of rocks and stones. For the small amount of time this took me, I like how it came out, really enjoyed painting it.

As your skills evolve, you are starting to become
more and more unpredictable. And that is just so good.
You could easily escape to a carriage full of Indians without
any bigger effort. I just saw your mirrored self portrait and I
have to say that you are sweeter than a saucer of cupcakes.
Maybe you could use a wider value range, but other than that,
everything is so great. The mushroom/knife still lives are so amazing.
I was also tried to do some mushrooms from my head, but I failed
hard, cause I actually never saw real mushrooms in my life.
They are banned from my country and everyone who is captured
with a possession of 10 grams of mushrooms are forced to serve
the basic penitentiary of 20 years.
"The pirate cove" is looking wonderful. You are improving for sure
with the environments. I would maybe just add Johny Depp outside
the cave, staked. The big stake would be out of his mouth and
he would be half dead half alive, still suffering. Cause the local
maniacal natives got him and he got what he deserved.
Nasty nasty things in my head.
Oh, and your feet for me. I want to draw them!
I want that so much.
That is the best offer I got here on CA.
Will be an erotic experience.
Raaaawwwwwwrrrrrrr.
Good anatomy studies and I loved the colors in your sunset painting! Good work.
Wow. You've done insane amount of studies. I especially love the hand studies, they've got good form ! Keep em coming![]()
LtPlissken: Thank you so much for your lovely comment, made my day!
I agree on using a broader value range, this really is something I must practice, especially in the pencil drawings.
Wow, why on earth would anyone forbid mushrooms? I mean, they are... food, and growing in like every forest.. even though one shouldn't eat to many wild ones.
I have to disagree on the pirate cove though. I would never stake Johnny Depp, but I offer you another option. Why not stake Keira Knightley, naked of course, while I am to keep Depp to myself? This solution would be much more to my liking than your suggestion. Depp for me, naked bloody woman for my valued watchers, sounds good?
I could also send you a foot of mine to draw, but I fear this might get messy...
mike butkus: Thanks you
fenixx: Thanks!
Hogarth studies:
Crap from imagination. Please excuse the extreme messiness.
Hands from life. Grew very impatient with myself and started experimenting, so the last ones are one-line-drawings. I'm not sure if or what I will lern from them, but they help me calm down and concentrate more on the line.
Drawing (drinking) some wine(glasses) from life, I didn't realize how bad I am with guessing, it was just when my mother put a square piece of paper on top of a glass that I realized how much this stuff gets foreshortened. Not that this helped me draw the stupid glass better, but at least I know how bad I am, and that I should really start measuring when drawing from life.
And random thing for fun fun fun (more to come, already painted in my head, haha):

WOW also deine Hände werden echt immer besser O___o und deine landschaften sind auch toll.
Hey, thanks for the visit! Great SB, especially the huge amount of anatomical studies and figure sketches. And your latest digital renderings are awesome as well!

I want that!
I want Keira Knightley on a stake. Naked and half alive. And you
and Johnny could do whatever you want. I like the way you are thinking.
You are one of a kind. And I want your foot. But not in real, cause it
would be nasty to saw off your own foot. I would just like it on a picture.
I would gladly draw it. I will send you my mail, if you want so you could
send a picture. Just say yes, please.
Hogarth is fine, and you mastered the drawing of hot male asses.
The hands they are also great, and you know your stuff, you just
do the proportions super great. I am happy that you drank some wine,
and that you draw the glass. You should drink even more wine,
cause it will make your blood to run wild, and it will make you to be
forever young. The random painting is great, and I like the feeling within.
You have chosen a very nice color combination. It is a great environment
for a nightmarish horror movie. The mission is to go/jump over these
stone islands, and when you fall down, you get impaled by some huge
stakes. That is how Keira got staked.
Lovely work in general, I am so happy.
Give more.
Thanks for your comments!
LtPlissken: Photographs of my feet sadly won't give you any practice like drawing from life would, but if you need a special foot-pose you don't find online, feel free to drop me a note!

Long time no update... here's some stuff.
Hogarth and photo studies:
From mind, unless marked otherwise, still life from life obviously:
Hands.

Hogarth rules!
You understand the form very well,
and you did some outstanding studies.
Do not stop now, do more, draw more,
paint more. Hope you will update once
more in this year. Either way I wish
you a Merry Christmas and a happy
New Year.
Thank you, LtPlissken, I hope you had a nice Christmas time. I wish you a happy new year as well
Color update.

Lyraina, these last three studies of your show a lot of improvement! good work!
Wow.. more and more studies. Again, love the hand studies. You are improving a lot !!
I must add nice detailing. But the first picture is a bit strange at the eyes unless you tried doing it. The first picture, looks like her right eye is light blue while the left eye is greyish. But I must say alot better than me. I'd also like to add beautiful postures. some of them not drawn for personal reasons. especially the one where the person is lying down.
Thank you all for the comments!
The usual photo poses:
And some experiments with some charcoal/red chalk/etc I got for christmas and my birthday:

Trying to beautify my linework. Sorry for the somewhat blurry scans oO
And skulls. I love skulls.

Everything referenced again. Right hands are obviously drawn with my left hand

And here I tried to extract the skeleton from my photo references. Tougher than I thought! I'll have to look up bones again I guess.

Today’s still life took me a bit longer, I also tried a different apporach: To get my values right I started out painting in greyscale and then… well, then I slapped some colors on it. I don’t think I can call it anything else, because I really don’t get the color results I want (and see in other people’s paintings) when using this method – it always gets airbrushy and squishy and I don’t really have much control over my hues. Anyone has an idea what exactly I'm doing wrong?
I also somewhat lost my motivation at the end because the sun was setting and mood and shadows were changing faster than I could paint them, which was frustrating since I spent quite some time on getting the values and perspective right this time.
(The egg is not floating by the way, it sits on something behind the shell)

Today’s post is a bit random, but I try not to fall into the habit of just drawing my photo poses, but do some other exercises as well.
First off, my lovely cockroaches, I hurried a bit at the end because they startet getting really active, and I prefer them staying in their box… especially after dreaming of loads of baby-cockroaches in my bed.
Some random stuff from life, I did not do an underpainting for the pen-thing.
And the inevitably photo poses, some of them took me a bit longer than the usual 5-10 minutes, but I’m not sure why.
![]()
Was a bit tired while painting those...
I’m really fond of my skull, but the fact that it is painted in different values makes it a bit hard to see the actual shadows and lights.
