    Just grab some pictures of snakes off the web - paying great attention the the reflectivity. They really are pretty shimmery things.

    Thanks for the paintover thegiffman- that does make a huge difference.

    Interesting idea Velocity, but I think it needs more lens flare :p

    Here's the revision with the specular highlights added. It really did make a big difference.

    I also liked some of the other things that Velocity's repainting had, such as making the snake more solidly red, and adding the bluish/purple light in the background. I did two versions because I'm not sure which one I like more, so I'd be interested in hearing what others think.

    The blue/purple at the top is very overpowering. You want the character to stand out, not the sky. Version 1 is great as it is. I really like this illustration, the story is interesting and the painting is well executed. Good job!
