I apologize for the double post, but something i learned recently is that with pain, it's best to go into it, to concentrate on it. Pain itself is the healing process; the more you resist, the longer it takes. I myself have found that focusing on it seems to numb it out somewhat.

The pain does not numb out, you start to see pain for what it really is.
Though in my opinion you can better watch the thought process in your mind than the actual pain.

As for another quote on this subject where stress can be replaced with pain:

I recently finished reading Art & Fear (David Bayles & Ted Orland).
