    Arrow LiquidJack Still Here

Thought it was time to give up the old sketchpad and begin a new one. I'll start off by showing this project I was working on for a good portion of time some months ago. I learned a lot from it and plan to revise my work pipeline and get better results. I'll post more pages as soon as I can.

almost done here...Actually I am done. The loading attachment system is a bit over done on CA. Shouldn't have to categorize every blasted thing I load on the board.

    Aha!

About damn time you did something with that old pencil drawing
The colors really help everything to pop out clearly...

Now you just need to paint up some more of your drawings

Great framing of the action in those sequential panels. About the
only crit I would have is that there is a strong sense of unreality.
The Figures are to plastic-y and give the sense of posed toys.

(maybe just a different shader or stripping out speculars would help?)

Also, they contrast too much with the backgrounds, making
them seem separate from the world they are in.

Also, in general, give some thought to more variety of color and
value schemes. Most of your scenes are set in pitch blackness with
loads of fully saturated colors popping out. Maybe try some mix of
saturated and muted colors, or some brighter lighting, or just experi-
ment with more variety of 'moods' of light and color.

Have you ever seen work by the artist Sam Kieth? He's probably mostly
known for the old MTV cartoon 'The Maxx' (which was also a long-running
comic book). I only just discovered him recently, but his art kind of makes
    me think of you

Bludhund - Hey Sam Keith is one of my favorite comic artist. I used to have the Mtv Maxx series on video, but I think I lost it. The 3D comic is very plasticy for sure. I am still in the developing stages for the next round of this graphic novel. I have come a long wy with Zbrush rendering and I hope it shows next time I put it together. Funny thing about the darkness and saturated color style I work with, another artist gave me the same remark. So I think I will do some work with less saturation.

This is in work. Ran into lots of trouble figuring the costume out. The Spiderman pattern in 3D need tons of tinkering because of a blurred effect. If I had more POWER in my computer I probably wouldn't have this problem. C&C

Thought it would be a good time to post images in good old CA again. I have taken a step back from 2D art but I am hoping to get back into it. Right now a lot of focus is on 3D artwork.

Hey man, great to see you still chopping away. I really like that 3D modelling of your
    Wolverine/Sabertooth composition.

I think that 3D and 2D really don't have to be seen as in different worlds, the tools and
disciplines of each can be used as they are expedient for image planning and image
creation. I think that 3D especially can help to greatly enhance and speed up the process
for lighting and perspective in 2D work.

Conversely, 2D can be used to very quickly add character and texture and design to a 3D
piece. I don't know if you are familiar with Randis Albion's work? He has a lot of tutorials
and resources out there demonstrating his technique which really efficiently fuses 2D and
3D for stunning effects. I think you should check some of that out if you haven't.

    http://www.hd-fortress.com/

    http://www.youtube.com/user/RANDISALBION

    http://www.facebook.com/fapsomemore

    http://conceptart.org/forums/member.php?28832-Randis

I would love to see more of your 2D drawings/paintings recreated as 3D scenes.

Also I really encourage you to do some regular (weekly or daily) quick studies from life (or ref),
of color, of texture, and light. Focus on one aspect or combine them in some genre like still life
or a simple landscape study. I realy think building up a mental library of these three resources
from life would help your work to explode to the next level.

    Keep it up, man!

    Thanks Blud!

Ya I know Randis. Really like his work. I have not scene tutorials from him that incorporate 3D. I have used his 2D tutorial in the past. Really helpful stuff. These days I can only make time for certain things. Also it is lack of motivation to get back into 2D art. I will seriously consider your advice though. With the holidays coming up I should be able to make more time to do some 2D work and get myslef motivateds to get back into it.

Working around the figure....not too much of a fan of this style of doing it but try it out anyway. I'd rather define gesture and anatomy with basic shapes and lines and get right into rendering:
