    The Road to Kickassery

So I think it's a good way to push myself, so I'm posting my horrible doodles and attempts as I pave the road to kickassery!

Good start to your sketchbook, The face structure look decently solid to me, some of the noses look kinda flat/distorted but keep up the good work and the streams.

1 hour portraits, trying new techniques and stuff

I usually take about 5-7 hours on portraits, so this is a painful challenge. I hate how the came out, but I think I'm getting faster, which is good

For this one I used http://fav.me/d2bh28z very loosely.

    Hey
There's a load of potential in your work. You're getting better and better at figures. I'm curious to see more of your painting renderings. Start with broader work on them and after that go into small details. Think of it as a whole single piece rather than small pieces grouped together.

Thanks for the interest, I'm not sure what you mean though. Could you expand a little?

Great sketchbook man. Those figure studies and portraits area really accurate, proportions and features are very good. Here is a link about composition, (another conceptart thread) hope it is of some use. http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...ition-tutorial

I'm really digging your portraits and how you capture expression and movement, especially on your last post. Can't wait to see more rendering.

Sorry for not making myself clear.
I was refering to the 'work from big to small' thing in painting. Like, when you start a character painting, you set the overall lighting, mood and colors, then set the same things for the character and after that you go into small details. Or, when you draw an arm, you draw the big muscle groups, then go into the smaller ones and start to define them.

Lovely new figure sketches you've got here.

Oh, right. I try to keep that in mind, it's just detail is like an addiction, got to work on holding back on little stuff until after the big picture XD
