@artezianin Thanks for the support
So this is probably my first illustration, still a work in progress, obviously.
a quick study of a tree, for the piece above.
Thanks for the tip Rinnikirunneed to work more on perspective
Heres an update on the piece. Dan Warren gave me a paint over and changed a lot of things, and even though I feel like I can take less credit for this, It's a part of the learning experience and the critiques I get teach me loads.
some poses from loomis and imagination. bad

YEEEAH! keep them coming! oohyeaa
so many strokes
I've been lurking in here for quite a while, a shame I didn't comment on your work yet.
Definitely like what I see here. There are some great gaps in between your work, but what you recently did looks promising.
I dig the idea of the faces, might give it a try as well.
@LastGen Thanks, I appreciate it. You should try it
@Ty Dawg around 30 minutes give or take, not sure
Really not feeling great about this, pretty terrible. Just shows what I need to work on most, aka the human form.

HEy Thomas, nice storytelling quality in your painted figures. I need to get some storytelling in my figures! Cool brush stroke technique: shows movement and it's lively.

trying more illustration stuff, its kind of frustrating but im having fun. i like how this turned out, much better than my last attempt i think. he was originally dopey, and then I changed him to mega sinister, both didn't really work so i went for a middle

Damn Man, that crocodile dude illustration is pretty badass. It's cool to see the process of it to.
Great work in here. You have a great sense of story telling. (love the out of focus sign at crocman)
Tip: Try no to blur all color plains together. Put some hard edges in the right spots.
Love your greyscale character sketches they have a lively feel to them.
Thanks for putting them up.

Great work in here!
couple of studies. been trying to understand perspective more, reading about it. done so many comps for the bloodsports, hated them all haha

you are really pushing yourself illustration wise(I want to do it too) very nice stuff on here.
a couple of things i started and don't really intend on finishing. i think i need to look at composition more and other artists, these seem really boring and flat to me

You had me confused for a bit.... cause there's you (Thomas M.), a Brit, and also a ThomasM (a Brit)... the one of "Insatiable Curiosity" on this site.
Anywho... when thinking about the composition... also think about the shapes. Consider that all large shapes are made up of smaller shapes... and a very limited number of them (cone, sphere, pyramid, box, cylinder).... all other shapes can be built of these.
You'll notice that these simple shapes all have symmetry.
So right away something you can do to both improve your compositions and the way your big shapes look is to make dead sure that all of the simple shapes in your drawing are symmetrical.
All the spheres, cones, boxes, etc... and, if you're using perspective... that they have the correct perspective.
Use those small shapes to find the planes.
This is how to build images that have volume and depth, and that also read well.
Good luck man!
