    Hey all!

I've been lurking for quite some time and have finally decided to have an online sketchbook! I'm currently 19 studying Digital Media Design in my college(we call it Nanyang Polytechnic) here in Singapore and I would love to be a concept artist or illustrator in the future.

I've seen many improve in skills via these sketchbooks(with the help of you guys) in CA and i would love to be 1 of them as well

So guys pls crit! I'm really determined to improve!

alright enough of the talk, heres some my sketches.

Looking good man, I particularly like the animal studies, and the 3 panel enviros.
Were they for anything? i.e a comic or animation idea.

    Looks like a good start!
Crits: I have a sneaking suspicion you are purposefully hiding your anatomy under clunky clothes/armor. Do some nude studies, and then experiment with slapping armor/clothing on. You don't see all the details of the anatomy in the end, but it's worth it to get some realistic fitting clothes/armor. Also, watch your hand and head proportions. Just remember this trick: The body is about 7.5 to 8 heads tall, and the hands are almost as big as the face with fingers splayed outwards. Good luck!

Jacky-Boy - Thanks Jacky-Boy! the lion studies were some studies we had during school curriculum. As for the 3 panels, it was too for 1 of my school work where we were required to do a small project and me and my friends chose to do a animation art book. So its kinda somewhat like for an animation idea.

M-Croft - Thanks M-Croft! I did nearly nude(my school doesnt allow nude) studies during my drawing classes but it been quite some time since my last life drawing. yea, i'm frequently having difficulties with the head and hand proportions, and drapery too. Thanks for your crits M-Croft, it really helped me. I'll go practise my life drawings once again!

Today's update is the character design for a project me and friend are working on, the creature is from the chinese lion dance which is quite popular in the chinese culture. Crits are welcome!

Next Up: some gestures or sketches close to life drawings

mentler: Its really an honour to have you here Doctor Bone! Thx for visiting!

Been busy with my school project these few days, lots of 3d lighting to do. and laggy computers are getting on my nerves

Here's a sketch i did while waiting for the renders.
and another is for the project i previously mentioned, about the chinese lion dance lion (his name is now Felio!)

I would hope to be able to do some gestures or anatomical drawings tomorrow.

shamandalie: Hello senior! nice to see people from NYP around! yea i'm in the animation sector. Which year did you graduate?

Heres some sketches i did yesterday but did not have a chance to post. Did some 30seconds gestures from posemaniac and I learnt that keeping the pen on the paper while drawing really helps! and the other is a tryout of a brush by zhuzhu!

Yea posemaniacs is a cool webbie. But i'm pretty sure school is still using Bridgeman. You can look at Loomis too, it's good stuff. I graduated 2008, this year actually lol. Probably might have seen you around keep up with those studies too!

Not been posting for some time...but anyway here's something different i did today! My first pixel art (started out when the urge to draw digitally and the abscene of a wacom meets)

It's still a WIP, there's still some more editting to do.

Wow, the studies up there are fantastic! I mean, especially with that on-off pressure that is so hard to nail down. x_@; Likin' all the karate dudes, very dynamic poses!

    POSEMANIAC!!
woo, that's gonna waste a few hours.

I'm lovin that pixel dude, he'd look wicked animated. GraphicsGale is a pretty cool program if you ever wanna dabble a bit more in the realms of pixelart. http://www.humanbalance.net/gale/us/
Also the forums over at wayofthepixel.net and pixeljoint are good for pixellin critique.

no new characters or stuff today.
but did 1 color study , i copied a photo and tried to mimic it without using the color picker. a practice from Goro Fujita.

tried coloring the 2 handed swordsman but kinda sucked.

I gonna do a final grayscale version of my frankenstein, i've never done any final work b4, jus sketches and stuff. I'm currently having troubles with getting rid of the outline...gonna go watch some tutorials on how ppl color their stuff. ya so heres the wip.

Dan Valkar: Thanks! yea you reminded me, i think i may go back and work an illustration for that lion someday.

my college told me bout the Darkstalker's Tribute comp and was thinking mayb i could give it a try. But there's so many amazing ppl out there, i guess it'll be more of an experience for me.

so did many sketches and studies of my chosen character Anakaris for the past days. and came up with this initial sketch for my final piece. do crit, especially if you spot something weird.

not sure if i'm free tomorrow to do some stuff, but i'll try and nail down my idea of what Anakaris will gonna be shooting out from his palm tomorrow.
(and shit i'm escaping from coloring once again)

an initial color tryout for Anakaris. It's looking bad but i thought i'll just post it so someone can help me with it.

I need to sleep now, but as for the next step, I wanna bring up the lighting further as i think my overall color's are looking a bit dull, hopefully the lighting would help :/
