ORK - Sketches, Line Art, Watercolor

did this today. originally drew it at the cafe at borders and then came home and cleaned it up. i started doing it as a watercolor....and that has turned out to be a big mistake. so here is the pencil, haha.

i thought i would post my sketches and my little color study as well. my final watercolor didnt turn out as well as i had hoped, but that is life. yeah yeah...my colors suck.

Nice drawing, daarken...

...but watch the details:

- the horns on the back aren't positioned on the backbone...this could be your intention but i don't think you really wanted this (same on the back horn on the head, it's quite different in size and form than its left one, though this isn't really a crit from me, since it would be an interesting idea...)

- the toenails are not similar anatomically...inside toenail is the big one on its right foot, on the left foot it's the outside toenail

- there is something strange with its right leg (viewer's left), i can't tell what it is...is he moving or standing? The position isn't clear enough...also actually it's a good idea to lower the back legs details, but then again you drew the back arm as detailed as the rest, though it's at the same level like the leg...

Nonetheless i like the lineart, especially on the hands and the small bags hanging on his belt...great! :thumbsup:

this guy needs some practice - good thing that's he'll be at the workshop.

actually i´m likin him very much!

i´m diggin the amount of life and business he shows, tho hes generally a rather massive fella.

also it makes me laugh because i can´t help but to imagine him checkin out his brand new looted axe not beeing totally convinced by its balance or something.

i feel that this sketch is a rather strong one!

I think you have a great sense of form....great sketch...strong anatomy....only thing i would bother changing is the 'cord' wrapped on the bottom of his pole is at a different angle than those on the top....perspective doesn't match up....

I like the feeling, that axe is bitchin. The feet are a little parallel for me. Good stuff tho

It might just be that I'm a sketch-lover by nature, but I like the sketch best (not to mention that the hairy look in the sketch makes him seem more brutish). Still I think the line art is cool, and I like that watercolor alot, particularly the atmosphere.
