Oh! Another newbie, just like me! =) Congrats on starting a sketchbook!
I like how you rendered the last two pieces, for the figures though I think you should try focusing on the outlines for now, not the rendering.
Hi Andromeo! Thanks for stoping by.
I'm glad you like my environmental exercises, though I think that my scanner screwed them up. Stupid HP junk.
Those figures are suppossed to be those 30 second gestures. But I cheated.^^ You're right. I always forget about the power of lines.
Thanks again and good luck!
Here's some digital stuff.

Not bad. Like your last pic maybe a bit too staturated all over. Some atmosphere in the background can separate the foreground from the background. Good stuff so far.
I thought there is something wrong with the saturation but I wasn't sure. That shows how important a second opinion is.
Thank you very much!

Here is one more concept of my character. I like working on more time-taking works to see where my current abilties are. I've encounted some problems:
- I still have a hard time drawing faces digitaly. (or in general. that's why I left the lineart)
- lightsources and how light behaves on forms
- general anatomy problems
I think I gonna go back to the fundamentals for now.
Since this is a concept: any thoughts, ideas or critique would be very appreciated.![]()

Finally did some still life. It's more fun than I thought.
Stupid dodecahedron. Confusing as hell.

lost patience with this. Anyway, let's move on.

I used a photo ref for this. Next time I will try to draw him from life.

The budgie is looking good! But yes, do try to draw him from life. Animal sketches are fun! They'll likely suck at first (mine do...) but it's great practice and sharpens your observation skills
Keep working on it!
Check these out too:

"Limited drawing skills are OK if they are offset by a fearless commitment to putting images on paper."
"I mean, What is a chair? It's an anti-gravity device." Glen Keane
"The difficult part is continuously realizing when you've stopped enjoying the process, and re-aligning yourself. It's kind of like meditation/being an art ninja..." ceddo
Thank you very much Kjesta!
I will draw him when he is sleepy and doesn't move that much. Otherwise faster sketches would be better I think.
Unfortunealy, I noticed late how important life drawing really is. My old art teacher used to tell me:"draw from life, it will help you to grow as an artist". I was like:" yeah...whatever..." I huge mistake I now regret.
Thanks for visiting and good luck![]()

Oh man this was a busy week. I hadn't much time to draw. I am working on a 3D model of the character I've shown above.
Here is a wip and some studies with Hogarth. Man, I love his books!

Great start! From what I can see, you're well on your way.
If I were you, I'd do a ton more drawing and painting from life and then try to apply what you learn to your drawings from imagination. Your studies are looking really good, especially the still life in post 7.
Keep going like this and you'll see big improvements, I'm sure of it!

I went to the Gamescom yesterday and boy was it awesome. It was a nice feeling to be part with all these people who appreciate videogames the same way I do. Especially at Nintendo's presentation. They said that there is special guest today here from America. "No, don't tell me you got..." I said and suddenly Charles Martinet appeared from the backstage. Oh man the whole crowd went so excited. I never thought I will ever meet him in person. So I was like: " What am I supposed to do?"pld: My friends had all their Nintendo DS with them. I didn't, so I decided to draw a crappy Mario in a 5 min rush and asked him to sign it. Mario is propably the reason why I started drawing and meeting the voice of Mario was an incredible experience.

Hi there!
Long time no update. My art practise is suffering currently because I am spending a lot of time working on the 3d model of my character. Maps are done (need optimization though, ugly seems) and finally gave her a rig. Working on the clothes now. Then I want to create some basic facial expressions. I hope I finish her in time.
Tell me what you think.
cheers!
