My (new and improved) Sketchbook [2010-Present]

Long time no....post! It's hard to believe that i've been out of high school for a year already. I have been away from this site for a very long time, and I figured I should show what i've been up to in terms of my art. However, I looked at my previous Sketchbook Thread, and found it pretty bland. So I decided to start a fresh one that I will constantly updating.

Some of these are personal pieces, others are doodles, commissions, studies, school assignments, etc. They showcase a wide variety of media, ranging from ballpoint pen (studies and doodles), to oil paint, to digital paint.

Critiques and comments, as usual, are greatly appreciated. Hope you all enjoy!

You render skin beautifully. If you don't mind me asking, what's your technique?

Thanks! The two most important things are to get the lighting and the color correct first. If you can convincingly sell the form as a three dimensional shape, the textures and little details can come later. Keep in mind how skin reacts to light (its specularity on the surface, and the fact that it can even let a little bit of light through). The details like the pores need to be consistent with the lighting as well, but don't worry about those little details until near the end of the painting process.
