    Laura Bifano's paintings- Update 11/01/2012

    Hey guys!
My name is Laura, I'm an illustrator based out of Victoria, BC. I've been a forum member for years now, formerly under the handle "Biffno."
Here's some of what i've been working on for a solo show in Calgary: a series of 10 pixel animal paintings called "Menagerie."

    Here is 1/10:

i really like the stork one, the colours, the idea, the lot. The deer image is pleasing but dont the angled legs break the pixel theme?

Kendall: It most definitely does. I'm not really a pixel art purist by any means, so I deliberately wanted to curve the legs to add a bit more gesture and expression to the animals.

Thanks Neurobalistic! It's acrylic ink, a really wonderful and versatile medium.

If anyone is interested, I'm making prints of these available through my etsy store!

Here is another lil' pixel/ block guy! The tortoise and the scorpion!

Nice work on this project of yours! I love the depth you managed to get in the octopus image, and the tiger is a close second. The stripe motif on the 'blocks' is perfect. What is the last animal in this menagerie I wonder??

These are beautiful. I especially appreciate your last entry.
The contrast of sharp angles to the smoothness of nature is inviting.
