Everything is looking outstanding so far! You are doing a really great job. Would like to see some more perspective studies to help you with some of your enviroments. Keep up the great work!!

Joe777k7 - Thanks! Yep, perspective is one of the many things I need to put some hours into. I'll try to do some studies soon!

Study, couple of hours. Mostly did it for those awesome skirt folds...

Very good studies! Int the last I like how you worked with the light and shadow, very nicely done. The image before is wonderful. Love the colors and the movement. I also like the self portrait on the page before.

    Greenhouse - Thank you!

Progress on the orc in a tree. The composition and perspective are REALLY NOT WORKING at the moment, and the wolves are scribbles because I just painted them out to start them over. WELP.

A handful of 90 second Drawing Script gestures. Playing with scratchier brushes than usual, not that you can tell at this size.

Use a vanishing point below the Orc (one that goes down into the Earth). You can use the Orc's torso or something to scale the tree (show how tall it is) and then scale the wolves.

This is explained pretty well in Successful Drawing (Andrew Loomis). I think the book is available on Amazon, or through less scrupulous channels as a pdf

p sage - Thanks for the advice! I've had that PDF for ages, but though I've read the hell out of Loomis' other stuff, not sure I've ever been through that one properly. I think the two things that are messing me up are first, the super-organic nature of everything involved, and second, the fact that I've got a big orc in an ambiguously sized tree with what are meant to be oversized dire wolves, making the relative sizes really confusing even when the perspective is right. That's no excuse not to at least try gridding it out, though. D:

Can't show some of the stuff I drew today, and won't show other stuff because it's stupid personal doodles, so here are some token Drawing Script gestures to satisfy the daily post. 3 mins each, a bit longer than usual.

It just occurred to me, why am I not subscribed to your sketchbook! Am now :-) You are nailing those digital studies, great work as always. Not much to crit but I encourage you to tackle those orcward perspective issues (see what I did there!) and push yourself with extreme angles and foreshortening.

    Dayle - Thanks a lot! I'll do that. =D

Hey look, posting mid-afternoon instead of the middle of the night! I desperately need to get into the habit of doing this stuff as a warmup rather than a token post after I'm done my work for the day, because that makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE.

Need to do more work from life, so here's a still life of a boot. Couple of hours.

I like that boot! The rendering is very smooth. About the #549, I like the orc a lot. The lighting is very nice and the face is cool. Maybe you should work with the perspective of the tree. Make the tree trunk go more down under the orc. So that it looks shorter. Keep it up, I think it will be great!

Holy cow your skills with digital medium is awesome! I really need to get off my but and start to switch over to my wacom. I get just not feeling like it and saying hello to my white copy paper Thanks for the comment in my sketchbook! You have been doing the great work since i have last been here. Dont give up on that painting with the guy in the tree. It is looking good. Like P-sage said just follow that perspective advice to tighten it up more. For the figure itself though you got the forshortening down pretty solid and thats a cool thing to get down right away. Im going to start to add some lighting to my drawings soon like you suggested. I got Scott Robertson's vid on rendering and light so im going to start there once im done my daily's. Keep going and pushing it!!

Jamie Romoser - Thanks! Yeah, most people don't do enough life study I think, and I place myself firmly on that list. Gotta work on that. =)

    Shadow Stalker - Thank you!

Greenhouse - Thanks, definitely making that change. That tree is so not from above at the moment.

Joe777k7 - Thanks, heh, I have the opposite problem - I'm so reliant on digital media I barely know how to draw with a pencil anymore. Nothing wrong with getting a handle on that stuff. Good luck with the lighting!

p sage Thanks! Ditto, hence the study. =)

Head study, with bonus roughed in hand. Ugh, this ANGLE. Head tilt back + head tilt sideways = sad, confused artist.

The boot is awesome, and the woman too. Very solid paintings. And it's good to see you trying to tackle difficult and unfamiliar things with imaginative stuff too. It's frustrating to go out of the comfort zone, but that's how we learn I guess.
