    for the birds two

This is my first design of an eagle on a gym floor client wanted this pose I used some clip art then tried to fix it and make it realistic didn't quite fly but shows where I started. Damn if they did not like it had me do it again in their new gym years later. this is the newer one:

Size: 95.7 KB

Last summer I was commissioned to design and paint two basketball courts for a private school beside letter the end zones and center court I had two eagles near the sides of the court about 8'-9' long. Painted using bulletin enamels (Billboard paint).

This is my helper transferring the pattern to floor via a large piece of carbon paper:

    Name: EAGLES_trace014.jpg

Size: 52.7 KB

This is how the layout looks:

Here is 1st eagle in progress:

Here is 2nd eagle in progress:

    Name: EAGLES_prog018.jpg

    The finished eagles:

Size: 66.2 KB

    Name: eagle_head_2nd.jpg

In the second gym they opted for an eagle on the wall. I painted acrylic on an aluminum composite sheeting that I cut to shape of eagle 8' high:

I hope this will be interesting for some of you. Being old school and large.

Now how could you possibly go wrong with a cat band? I really like it. And excellent eagle mural, too.

    Sketches and horsing around

In 2009 I was in hospital and my brother in-law stopped by to play guitar for me, a very nice thing to do and made my day. I managed to draw this while he played.

Lastly, My family and I were driving along a causeway in Montana cutting thru this lake and this horse was in the water. We drove slowly and it walked with us. I had my daughter take some shots thru the back, side window. The light on the water behind the horse was real neat. I have not done it justice, but had to paint it.

Here are some sketches after Charlie Russel painting and sculpture with some of my own thrown in.

    Developing the Dracula

My Daughter and I worked together brain storming ideas for the project for her Vampire literature class. after a rough sketch, I drew up this pattern, then made a transparency for her to paint from. I coached her through the painting. I think she did real well. The drawing above( the count on Dracula post) was done after the pattern drawing. She edited out the top head in the painting on wood.

    Boaring Process

    Boaring process
I have been asked to do a hand-painted sign for a B-B-Q place, their old board's head was a little worse for wear. so I developed a new one.

I found some reference pics on line I started the sketch on right but did not like feel of it, so I printed reference and traced it out (on left).

Still weak so I printed it out then did brush work with ink and white paint maker. I scanned that in and created a red mask, then added high lights and finally rotated it for placement in sign. I have sent them layout for sign when they pick one I will post design and pic of completed sign with Boar's Head. I will fine tune this during the paint process so any suggestion will be appreciated.
Note I think the anatomy of these guys is very strange and wonderful.
    Here is the process:
