Hey man, really appreciate the comment and subscription!

Your ink sketches have a real nice fluidity to them and the watercolors are particularly eye catching too. I really like this abstract direction you're taking. I'm not sure if you've heard of Richard Anderson but looking at your work it seems like you'd really enjoy his stuff. He has way with abstraction too, check him out! http://flaptraps.blogspot.co.uk/

    Thanks for the link!

You don't know if Abstraction is very good? How do you mean?
Its a very broad subject, so it depends on what kind of Abstraction you are going after. Personally I don't like Picasso or any Cubist style of abstract. But using abstract shapes to find potential designs is a very useful method for creating concepts. But I suppose that's what you mean by everything starting from abstract

I have to say, looking through this sketchbook was wicked fun. I love your sense of color, I love the lighting, and of course the abstract approach. It's really refreshing.

I also really like this newest spaceship Japanese temple piece. It's kinda a mosaic in a rainstorm. If there was any crit I would give (and I'm a little out of my depth here) it is that it's a bit even across the board. The jagged bits are pretty much present at similar rates throughout the whole thing. I think the piece would probably benefit from more emphasis on one part of the painting or another. Right now the eye just zaps to the top of the temple and has nowhere to go. Don't know if that could be done by pushing the lighting or if more quieter, noiseless sections would help. Don't know.

By all means though, keep cracking with this style. I love it.

Thanks for the links, and nice man! that EoW piece is a real leap forward.

There's something in particular that gripes me though. The final piece lacks some of the clarity and readability of the initial colour block-ins. There's a lot of over-done and distracting little elements in the finished painting, so it kind of loses the solidity and structure seen in post #219. As the above person said, it would probably do good to place more emphasis on the focal point and perhaps tone down on the chaotic areas.

Other than that it is a strong painting, best of luck in the final

You have a really fascinating SB here. A LOT of different stuff going on. I really like that latest post of yours. I've been on a "grand perspective" binge lately, and that piece caught my eye because of the sense of scale you gave the figures. Very cool lighting atmopshere to them as well.

As it's been stressed by others already, I would just echo that it may help give your work more "body" and solidness by using some bigger and more opaque brush strokes.

    Keep up the hard work.

    and the sketches before bed,

the bottom one looks nicer cause I change brush for more solid, the first chalky one didn't work well

I'm trying to capture shapes with few brush strokes, using pen pressure to vary gray scale, it was the first time me doing it, need to practice more to reach Jama level
    his sketches are truly amazing

hey there, thanks for the architecture links back in E=mc2 SB, when you paint environments or anything else check your values and make sure your piece reads in black and white, if you work with photoshop converting it to B&W is easy with an adjustment layer. make sure you got your foreground mid ground and background established and have a good range of values, colors and all the neat brush effects come last, value and perspective is most important. cheers!
