Finally back. Been awful at posting and stuff, been crazy busy at uni. So I'm kinda drawing/kinda designing most of the time. Just not a lot of studying. Got a couple fitted in though, so here we go.

About 7.5 hours on this one. Longest I've put into a study I think.

And then this was for uni, came out kinda cool though, so figured I'd put it on here.

I'll be done with uni for the year soon, so gonna be back into doing this every day (unless I can somehow find a job over the summer). Gone so fast.

So, done with uni for the year. Can't believe how fast the year went. Got a lot of stuff planned for the summer. Painting, web design, 3d, motion stuff. So many things I wanna do. Keeping busy I guess. But yeah, quick update.

Started a portrait of the queen. You know, coz I'm British, and it'd be rude not to with the jubilee and all.

And started this personal illustration I've been wanting to do for a while. Part of a series of "what I want to be when I grow up" got some cool ideas for it I think : )

Also meant I got to do the most exciting study ever

    Stuff from yesterday.

Couple of studies for the robokid illustration.

(This is so bad. Holy Shit)

And where he's at so far.

Did a bit more work on the queen as well

    That's all. Back to it.

So here's the last couple days stuff.

Just been doing studies, then directly applying them to my robokid thing.

    Studies:

And this is where he's at so far:

Also, been working on a portrait/glasses study so I can work on his face/eyes in a bit.

As always, love to here what you think.

So, here's today's stuff. I'm also working on my website (personal goal for the summer I guess) and doing some 3D work in cinema4D on the side. It'll be on here when it's done, no worries.

Finished the face study, pretty happy with this. 5 Hours total I think

Current state of RoboKid. I'd love any sort of crits on this by the way. Gonna keep pushing it though.

And a few pencils from imagination today. Dead fun. Gonna keep pushing imagination, wish I'd done it earlier.

Not a good day today. Photoshop broke, taking an hours work with it, so spent a good hour or so troubleshooting that. Then went to do some 3d stuff, and quit C4D without saving, like a total moron. Got some decent pencil stuff done which I'll chuck online tomorrow when it's sorted, and made a bit more progress with the kid.

Only thing is, now I've spent so much time on it, and learnt a lot, I'm starting to hate the bits I did first. I dno, I'll keep at it, try and push it to a finish some time soon.

    Any pointers?

And some speed portraits, trying to get faster. So, 15mins

    And 30 mins

So, a few more speed portraits from today
    30mins for these

    Then a 45 min one

And spent about 2 hours on this, from life.. Maybe they helped? This felt more natural anyway. Who knows....

    So,

Worked on a semi imagination thing based on the life drawing from yesterday. Going to follow the Concept Art 101 excercises on CA from ages ago. Something to focus on.

A sketch from last night, I hate stuff like this, because I just feel disgusting afterwards. I have a plan to get better though. Just you wait...

Self portrait from today. This is ridiculously awful... So, taking a leaf out of Hannes' book, I'll be doing a self portrait every day for the rest of summer (105 days). Stay tuned for awful drawings.

Finally, some sketchbook stuff, all imagination. Still awful : D

Hey man keep doing those life paintings and SP's they will help tons, you seem to misplace features on the face a lot, they get a little skewed. Maybe add some loomis studies in to help out the self portraits. Otherwise just keep working!

Had to get a few non arty things sorted today, so as a result, got very little done. But yeah, here's what I've got.

Loomis from the last few days.

And another self portrait. 2 and a half hours I think.

So, lots of little shitty things today.

    30 second posemaniacs

    Gesture Studies

    Imagination figures

Been looking at some animation fundamentals, pretty interesting

    Little animation

Started this as well. No Refs yet, dno how far I'll go with it.

And self portraits for the last couple of days.

Forgot how much I loved markers. So fun

    So yeah that's all.

Wow, you've really been putting in the work. You'll get to 10,000 hours in no time if you keep this pace up. You've got a lot of interesting things in this sketchbook. I also like how you mix it up, working from life, photos, imagination, etc. Just keep going! You seem to be doing all of the right things. You'll be awesome in no time, no doubt. And the way you draw clothes is ridiculous! In a good way of course.

Stuff from today, kinda choppy day, got some animation and website work done though been trying to do that along side my painting. Not a total waste of a day. .

Self Portrait, about an hour I think

And a master study of, as recommended, Velazquez's work. Loved doing this and think I learnt a fair bit. Gonna apply it tomorrow. Might start another one soon and push it further as well. About 5 hours on this.

    Today's Self Portrait

Working from imagination on top of it. Fuck I want a badass beard

Load of gesture work. Alternating 30second posemaniacs and 1 minute imagination

And a sketch from tonight. Kinda enjoying this guy.

if you want my 2 cents I think that more pencil work would do you well. It looks like that is what you are most weak at. Your photo studies are good! Perhaps try more imagination stuff? Anyways, nice stuff! inspiring.. so on that note, back to drawing for me!

Jarrad - Yeah I totally agree man, need to find time for some pencil stuff. I love it as well, just need to fit it in.

Not managed to post for a little bit, my bad. Here's the recent stuff though.

    Self Portraits

Gonna do another Master Study soon I think, made such a difference last time.

    Few more posemaniac things
    Studies

    Imagination

    Some marker pen studies

Imagination(ish) looked at a photo once, then drew from my head using it as a starting point. Quite like this approach because I have to think for myself, and not use the ref as a total crutch, but it also gets me over the hump of not knowing what to draw.

And a tiny bit of work on this guy, gonna leave it like this, don't really like it, so Ill start something new I think.

    That's all for now folks!

JonHop - Cheers man, well, I'll have a proper look through at the end of the summer. That's my evaluation point I guess.

Shitty day today, but my website's taking shape at least.

    Here it is:
    Loomis

    Stuff from my animation book

    Motorbike Studies

I jacked the highlighting style thing from someone elses anatomy studies, their name escapes me, but if you see it somewhere else, they did it first, and their stuff rocks. But yeah.

And today's self portrait.. it was rushed, I'm a terrible person. Ooops.

Been in London all day today, so not a huge amount to show.
    Bit of Loomis

Drawing people on the tube. The key skill here's not getting caught. So fun.

Had some stuff in my other sketchbook, but can't find it now. Ho hum.
Today's self portrait. Got a load of hair chopped off
