Haven't posted in a while, here's my recent stuff though.

My entry for last week's CHoW - Raging Elemental Colossus.

    Studies

Work on Morgan le Fay for the Mentoring project. So yeah, Mongol Morgan

Someone pointed out a slight anatomy issue. The small head makes her look like 2 kids in a huge suit. Need to fix that lol.

WIP for this week's CHoW - Infected Scientist

    Gestures

    Expression Studies, fast ones...

Aaaaaand, to round it all off. Pencils

Decided to use some old CHoW briefs as pencil exercises, so this is from CHoW 002 - Human Merchant

Also, I've started doing these daily character things. Couple of hours each, here's 1-5

    And finally, progress on Mordred..

Awesome work! And plenty to look at, you're definitely improving a whole lot. One thing, i feel like in many of your sketches, especially i feel like your eyes are rather on the small side.

Right, so I've been trawling through old sketchbooks recently, and decided to mix up what I'm working on a bit. I've been doing studies, but I'm not really learning all that much from them, so gonna try and focus more on imagination stuff. Also, going to be applying the studies I do much more literally.

    So, stuff from this morning.
    Loomis

    Sketches

    Gestures

And a shitty application of the sargent study from the other day..

Oh, btw, the threads I've been checking out are

    Hannes (algenpfleger)
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...2-what-is-this

    Dave
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...-Body-Contact)

    And Miles
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...s-sketchbook-D

If you haven't had a chance to look through them, or you've only flicked through, its definitely worth having a more in depth look. You can kinda see how people learned, and how they picked up new stuff. Pretty interesting, and very inspiring.

    Quick update before bed.

    Yesterday's Character

Studies from this morning. I felt gross, so was working super slow. Here they are though. I try not to discriminate about what I post here, no matter whether I like it or not. So yeah..

Today's character, was pretty happy with this

And today's environment - still need to work on these so much!

I think I'm going to alternate each week, between doing daily environments/characters, and just pushing one for the whole week. Should help me get a balance of quick ideas, and expanding my visual library, and at the same time, I'll still have to push stuff to a finish regularly. Not sure if that makes sense.. So tired. That's the plan though

    Passed 1200 Hours Here

I just deleted my timetable. It's been working pretty well, and for just starting out having some regiment is really useful, but I think I've been trying to follow it too rigidly, and that's been stopping me from tackling the right stuff. So yeah. We'll see how it goes. I'm still going to be studying every day, trying to apply stuff, etc, it just won't be at set times. Tbh, it probably won't make a lot of difference to what my posts look like. Just thought I'd mention it.

    So, today's stuff.

    Study

    Kinda applying it

    Sketchbook
    Studies and a character

    And anatomy

    Last coupla days

    Sketchbooks

    Anatomy

Gestures. Started doing these from videos on youtube yesterday. Way more fun, so far anyway.

Pushing that idea a bit further, gestures from a fight scene

Working on an Attenborough Portrait. Experimenting with the Zorn Palette digitally. Pretty fun

And a character WIP, although I think I might stop working on this here, after realising he's literally just a square.

nice updates! i am noticing you are getting some desaturated colors. dont be afraid to put some stronger colors in there, if you have to you can even color pick every once and a while you'll be surprised at what colors are actually being used. anyways other than that keep it up!

V3T - Cheers dude, Yeah the studies are helping a ton

Kevin - Thanks man, yeah I definitely have a problem with my stuff getting muddy. That's a good idea though. I might have to just take half an hour at some point and totally break down an illustration with awesome colour. Colour picking and stuff. We'll see, I'm working on it anyway .

Much better day today. Seem to have randomly done a load of pen and paper stuff, which makes a change. But it's all good.

    Bridgman Studies

    Imagination poses

Pose studies from professional's work, there's some daarken stuff, and some from spectrum in there

    Applying from memory

    Thumbnailing

    Pushing them a bit

    Design studies

    And, again.. Applying from memory

Oh, and this happened... Get it? It's a fork. And it's in the road. Like a fork.. in the road. Fork in the road? I'm sorry
