    Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 1959/10,000

Starting on the 10th of March 2012, I started tracking the hours I worked on my fundamental drawing/painting. Gonna keep getting closer to that 10,000 hour mark. Always nice to have something to aim for .

Ok, after messing around with the sizes, think I can update easily now. The attachment manager thing's a bit long, if it works, it works though.

    Right, drawings...
All stuff from yesterday or earlier - Marker pen drawings are from a while back.

    Hey Hey!
Did a tiny bit of Loomis work, and then a portrait, trying to bear in mind what I read.
    Really helpful.

Almost felt like a step forward..
Rendering's still pretty bad, this pencil thing's totally beating me.

Couple more bits, all from yesterday.

Gonna colour the key today, not feeling that confident. We'll see how it goes though

    Hiya Jake

That's some nice work you've got so far. I think you should try to do some more full-body sketches instead of just faces all the time.

The extreme close up of the horse made me chuckle

    Keep drawing!

Trisscar - Hey, thanks for dropping by, really appreciate it. Full body stuff sounds like it could be fun, I'll give it a shot.

Just tried colouring that key. Just have no idea where to start or how to approach it. I've slapped down some colours, but they're pretty off, and not sure how I should attack it.
Any pointers would be a huge help!!

So, I realise noone actuallllly cares, but sorry for the huge delay uploading, went away for a week with some friends, and sorta got out of sync. Anyway, here's what I've been up to I guess.

Any comments would be awesome... Seriously, they'd make my day

Just found this in a folder of old work. Was pretty proud of it when I did it (as I was putting together my uni application).

Nothing compared to some of the work on this site though. Woooahh

Well this is where I got to with the study... Which I found out was michael jordan. Ooops, probably should've known that.
But yeah, here it is. I just get stuck at this point. I should really stick with it and keep at it, but... I. Am. Shattered. Might try and just dedicate a day to a single piece soon. That should help
    Maybe tomorrow?

    Good studies, you're getting there!
One thing I can say for sure is to continue challenging yourself and pushing the limits, only way to improve. Otherwise keep up the good work

Good stuff, especially that cloth study. On the portrait, maybe use a bigger brush and get the big overall down first before doing the details.
    Keep it up!

Woah, first off, thanks so much everyone. Feels good to see other people's names in here . Makes me wanna keep it up.
Also, crap all done recently (oops) had people visiting and been working though. Not a great excuse, s'all I got though.

Stantz - Hey thanks, . Yeah you're right, need to start doing some slightly different stuff, portraits all the time, while I guess they're improving, isn't the most productive thing. Gotta push me some boundaries .

Henrique - Cheers, yeah the eyes were kinda fun . Clothes were just a thing to put into a portfolio for uni, before I started doing studies properly. Ha, that's if you can call what I've been doing studies .

Wanderer - Thank you . Feel like I'm making progress.

    Gavin - Huh?

Elophant - Ha thanks, sucks the first thing's the one you liked . Hopefully I'll get summin to match it done soon.

Braintree - Cheers, yeah liked doing the clothes studies. Fun to mess around, work on a slightly stylised thing. Oh, and btw.... Your sketchbook. Mindblowing, love it man.

Vitaquena - Ummmm, gonna take that as a compliment, not exactly sure what you mean though

Ice - Thanks, Yeah, if nothing else, keeping the SB lets me look back and see if I've improved. Gonnna be more impressive in a few months hopefully . (years)

So, onto the work.. Like I said, got basically nothing done, kinda ashamed to post, but did this this evening and figured I'd throw it up here. Cheers again for all the feedback .

Pencil, then biro over the top. On Moleskine.
(Should try working just in ink again I think, confident lines and all that!!)

    Oops

Right, well out of sheer laziness I haven't been posting here.
    Here goes

Coffee cup that I never finished. It kinda beat me.
So, then I started the key (today) and finished it!! . Pretty happy with that one tbh.

Have done some pencil stuff, but tbh there's not a lot and its kinda crap. As in, not worth scanning. Next time

Today's study. On and off for pretty much the whole day. Been doing other stuff as well though, so like 5+ hours work i guess.

Could be way cleaner but I've got so much out of it anyway. Happy

    Any thoughts? : )

Right, I've fallen off of my studies recently. But as of.... now. I'm getting back into it.
Progress from tonight. Probably 2 hours. God I'm so slow. Gonna have a crack at finishing this tomorrow.
As always. Any comments, on anything would be hugely appreciated .

    study

Been watching Dan Warren's streams, and figure he's got a point. Set myself some goals, and it hit me hard that I'm not gonna get faster if I just keep babbling along with studies for days on end.
So put another hour into this, and cut it off now.
From now, gonna be working on studies for 2 hours each for the most part, maybe one longer one every week or every other week. Want 20 studies up in the next month.
    Wish me luck
