    Character Concepts

    Hi,

I just wanted to share a few character concepts I did recently. I did these to practice designing and rendering humanoid characters in armored suits. I am looking to break into the concept art industry, so any feedback would be much appreciated.

I have also posted a portfolio thread in the portfolio review section (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=223062).

    Thank you,
    Peter

#2 is very elegant. Great shapes and flow. #1 looks nice as an illustration/graphic design; not sure how well it works as a character design concept, simply because it's quite undefined.

    Hi, thanks for your comments!

Benjaminba -- Someone in my portfolio thread commented on fleshing out stuff more as well. I will really try to do that in every concept-oriented piece from here on. Really valuable feedback.

They remind me of John Berkey's paintings, graphic at times suggesting light and shape and representational when and where they need to be. I like them alot!

Thanks guys, I'm really amazed with the response so far!

Vay - First piece is done in Photoshop, the subsequent pieces are Painter. I recently switched to Photoshop after 5 years of Painter, and I'm glad I did. It's a more powerful overall package with much more usable transformation and vector tools. Coming from a graphic design background with heavy photoshop use, I've been waiting to switch to it for painting as soon as real-time canvas rotation (to save my wrist from RSI) and quick brush resizing became available.

Really great work, I love your brush stoke, it's very elegant and very speed. The girl with the curve the light, the composition and the blue touch very powerful strengthen the power of the image, it's very graphic, I love this one !

The car sketch (the dark four-wheel drive) is really great and one more time rellay powerful and show a big mastery technic.
