Study from photo, sketch and creature thumbnails!
Also, forgot to share this cool video i found when researching flintlock pistols for the pirate.
It´s fun to do some extra research on how things work.

excellent characters, the subtley of the poses is really nice aswell. There are poses that really show of the character without having to go over the top, youve created interesting poses by using more complicated view points.
Some nice stuff in here. But keep practicing anatomy. Love the steam-punk dude under water.

Cool work, your loose lines are great, wish I could sketch with that energy man. The city environment paint-over thing a few pages back is solid, and all your self portraits show real variety of technique. I'll be checking back
Great works man! i see some Algenpfleger inspired works.
marcoferrigno: Thanks man! Really appreciate it!
Seraph Fawkes, Thanks dude. Will keep practicing! Been focusing on environments lately though.
lionheartGFX: Thank you very much! What was the hell speedster cow? Will do!
maths82: Thanks for the visit! Glad to hear too.
Yemi775: Thank you! He´s a cool dude! Been checking his work lately.
Crits/input appreciated!
Starting out the new year with some digital painting!
A Samus Aran-type character out on adventure, finding an old temple.
...and then she heard a loud noise from the rubble.

Sweet enviro work lately, man. You must do it more!
The photo paint-over is good, it's a nice adaptation and doesn't reek of "THIS IS A PHOTO HERP DURP".
Yes sir! Trying

beautiful stuff man, you look like youve been experimenting a bit style wise? nice view point and compositions on the scenes and enviroments aswell, i need to break out of the standard 'ground level camera' type view...
wow the last piece is stunning man. are the bells photo-overlayed? Something that could be critiqued is the light-flare, it kills the piece and quietness of your work.

marco, thanks man! yeah, been trying things out. I find it useful for me to keep things fresh, doing things in different styles and with different techniques. I have the same problem to with the camera view. I should switch it up more =)
Qikalain, thank you very much! Yeah, the bells are cut from a photo! Not sure how i feel about the lense flare, mostly wanted to try it out. But i think you´re right that it kills the mood a bit.

until next time!

Rough matte painting, had lotsa fun on this one. Crits appreciated!

Here´s some enviro sketching from mind.
Developed one of the thumbs a bit.
I need to get better control over my values..

yo Flaskpost. To crit your rough matte i would say that the bridge connecting your foreground to the city is confusing, because it is on a different perspective grid than the foreground or the distant city. This gives it the feel that its a slanting bridge, which to my mind doesn't really meet up well with the grand temple. I would also redesign the silhouette of the big red tori gate to hold a more dynamic shape (search them, i think each part is designed with a specific spiritual reason).
In the foreground, too much saturation! or not enough in the distant city. Is it dusk? sunset? The closer it gets to sunset the less detail will be visible on the front of the grand temple, it will be obscured by its grand shadow(but on the other hand you have a chance to paint things purple). The foreground elements look busted up, broken down, but theres still a line a well landscaped trees to the left. Is there narrative reason for this? You could show some ruin and desolation on those trees to further separate the decayed nature of the FG with the wealth of the BG. I would probably accentuate this contrast aswell by putting some 'flying' flags on the grand temple, to contrast the 'dead' flags hanging limp in the foreground.
insane lemur, i really appreciate you taking the time! Great input and ideas. I´ll consider those for coming paintings for sure.
Here´s a quicker char, not super-quick environment.
Posted a step-by-step of the enviro on my blog as well: http://www.larsotterclou.blogspot.com/

On the first I xperimented with a photo base and lasso tool, the second is the last one from the b/w environment thumbnails and the third is a quick character sketch that took around 90 minutes.

cool stuff ,very nice linework and i love your stylized work both on enviros and chars interesting to look at keep it up m8
The latest invironment pices look awsome! The stairs of the last cave one (#201) look a bit weird though. Cool stuff!
wow dude, sweet environmental work!
Matthias, thank you! glad to hear! And i think so to, i´m not sure how to fix it at the moment though.
Yemi, thanks man!
Feels like it is going slowly forward with the environments. Trying to go pro in 2013.
Finally i´ve updated www.otterclou.se ! wooo.
I´ve posted a step-by-step of the scifi city on http://larsotterclou.blogspot.com/ as well. Please have a look!
here´s some things that i´ve been working on for a while:

Theme: Orange

Theme orange work looks good and i have to say this http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rfmJ9qCgir...mised+land.jpg is too much man, keep up the good work.
Great stuff mate! Love those environments that you've got going on. Always nice to see some vivid colors, make meh happy.
Something I noticed on your sci-fi soldier concept is that he's almost tilting over. I'm not sure if it's that his waist is too small compared to his upper body or that the perspective lines don't follow the same vanishing point. I like the concept though, and I'd probably pick the left design! I'm sure you'll go pro this year if you keep this upThanks for the inspiration man!
thanks for stopping by my sketchbook and givin some advice great job on the stuff in here, some really epic environments, and those suit designs are sick too.
