You used them to opaque. Try to make your portraits in pencil first! Then slightly over the weeks move over to acrylics. Before you paint alla prima, lay down a pencil sketch, then a layer fixative, and then apply wash after wash acrylics.

But as I said, stick to the pencil for a while.

    Thanks!
I barely know anything about acrylics! xD
Next time I use acrylics I shall try your suggestion.

Yeah I shall make some pencil portraits first... Today's one is done with ballpoint pen though (however the sketch was penciled xD).

And I drew GUNDAMS FROM IMAGINATION...

Awesome that you're doing this! One tip, you might wanna take some more time in setting up the basic proportions before you rendered anything yet, really try to take the time and put everything in its right place to the milimeter! right now a lot looks really off. Keep it up and you'll see tons of inprovement!

Daily?! Coool, keep it up! Persevere and they'll only get better. Make sure to do studies outside of self portraits too though.

A quick tip: The whites of the eyes aren't always white. Are the whites of your eyes really the brightest part of the picture? Make sure you check for the values when doing these.

Phade01 Yeah I am not a very patient sketcher... I prefer to draw everything right away (which of course doesn't work XD). I shall try to construct it better first
Oh and thanks for the water by the way xD

skMOP Yeah, daily! Or at least try to ^^ I shall pay attention to it, the eyes certainly sometimes look way too bright xD

Here's today's self-portrait... Done rather quickly while being tired/not focused.

Doing one a day is a fun, short activity, but it limits the amount of stuff you can learn. Make 4 per week and the other 3 days, you spend on doing one in detail. Trying to get outlines and everything as close as possible.
Also, your sketchbook, I need to see more still lives/nature/detail studies(hands, feet, bones),... and less stylized gundam stuff. Yes, they're fun to do, I agree, but don't start with applying shortcuts to what you know before what you know has a solid basis in reality.

    Good luck.

    @Hyskoa: hahaha yeah I like doing Gundams. One of the reasons I started drawing them was... to learn how to draw mechanical things. I have no idea where to start when it comes to that. I guess drawing gundams isn't really the way to go then, but I have no idea what else is. ^^;
When I read your comment I started working on a still life right away
Just a silly plate and fork, but still, it's a start

    Today's self-portrait...
    number 13 already.

Draw washing machines, plumbing, cars, tractors, trains, etc.
The things gundams are based upon were mostly vehicles to begin with + samurai outfits, clothes in general really.

@Hyskoa: yeah you are right! I tend to forget that sometimes XD

Here are the portraits of yesterday and today... It feels like I am degenerating. I see so many mistakes! D=
I have a bigger mirror as well now so I wanted to do a (almost) complete figure study. Unfortunately the proportions... got... well... as you can see...

*note to self: I really must take more time for sketching and not dive in right away*

So yeah I am going to change this topic's title to "not so daily" xD
Sometimes I want to spend some more time on a work than just an hour or something.

I did a portrait with oil pastels and I felt like showing the steps of it too.

The other one is a sketch (self-portrait from imagination) I am working on.
