I'm kind of regretting my decision to to do the lettering by hand on this comic, my writing isn't very consistent.

The comic is looking amazing. I've said it before but I love the colours. Doing the lettering by hand sounds like a right royal pain. My hand writing is terrible, so I couldn't imagine doing it on a PC.

Chompi'n: Thanks so much! And yes, it is pencil. (2H and 3B) The mediums I use most often are pencil and photoshop. If you go to the top of the thread, there's a drop-down called Thread Tools. The subscribe option is in there.

    And thank you again!

Spacejelly: The block letters aren't too bad, but the handwriting is really annoying to do. Oh well, can't stop now!

I did all my drawing today on printer paper with a clunky old yellow HB pencil because I forgot half my stuff. It felt like high school!

The different athletic body types are interesting, nice variation!

I like your hand writing, it really suits the style of the comic. I don't think it matters if there are small inconsistencies either.

    hehe good manly bodies.
the car sketches are sweet but perspective is a-bit off
like here the wheels go down to the left
while the rest of the car go up to the left

Lyraina: I'm more worried about legibility than style, but it seems to be working okay.
Chompi'n: Ah, I knew there was something really wrong there, but I couldn't figure out what it was. Thanks!

Oh you're writing your comic by hand? Jesus. I tried that on mine and I was getting hand cramps every single letter.
Ever tried making a font of your hand writing? Might make things easier in the long run.

You can skip the whole print/scan mess by just using your tablet to write over the pdf.

Really like that blue + white war picture. I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS WAR THEY HAVE
    I really
Like knowing about those sorts of things. The only parts of history I liked was the military/politics stuff, really. ahaha.

Your pencil peice is going splendidly too. I seriously admire your ability to stick on with things. My attention span is pixel sized compared to yours.

No crits this time! Just keep churning out these beauties.
Haha. Wrote beautities the first time. Freudian slip and a half.

Naidy: Thanks for that link! It'll be super helpful - when I have time to work on that comic again, haha.

The war in John Paul's story is WWI, though with some big AU fantasy elements added.

    hi

i like the style you developed for the figures. the non consistent side of your writing could be part of the style

as a critic for the cars: draw many cube and cylinder ( i guess no need to tell you about circles), then draw many perspective grids, this will get your cars better

    good luck

I had this issue, logged into CA, got excited, tried to upload images, panicked, cried and ran away. I get confused easily

These gesture drawings are very fluid looking and capture the movement of the pose well. I likes.

zou: Thank you! I don't draw vehicles often, so I appreciate your advice.

SpaceJelly: Yeah, I did the same thing. :s Change is scary. Thanks, I'm glad you think my gestures are improving!

This is the last of the stuff I have left over from the summer. I'm working on a big project for an independent study that's eating up most of my time, which I'm really excited to share here. But I haven't quite myself organized enough to post about it yet.

hey, let's see what Clur's been up to! Oh, you know, just being killer as usual.

Such a good idea to do those separate body types. It's so damn easy to get into identical-Barbie drawings when every person on pixelovely, etc. all have the same figure.

Can't wait to see this project you've got going on.

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.

littlebones: Studying different body types is also super fun! Here's where I got the reference, if you're interested: http://ninamatsumoto.wordpress.com/2...e-for-artists/

I rise from the grave, finally done with my independent study. I swear I didn't mean to vanish for a month and a half, but life (and an annoying English class with lots of homework) happened.

So yeah. The project I was working on is a set of sixteen small illustrations for the Shadow Over Innsmouth, by H P Lovecraft. I don't want to spam the place up, so I'll break them up into several posts.

That lettering on the comic looks fantastic. Don't worry about not being very consistent, because that is the beauty of hand-lettering. The aesthetics of inconsistency is something that a lot of digital letterers have to work very hard to replicate. Clem Robins, for example, has over two hundred variants for each alphabet and a ton of variants for commonly used words, alphabets that usually come after each other etc.

The rest of your work is also shaping up well and I especially like your more cartoony finishes.

Clur, I guess the only critique I have is theres not much ethnic diversity, y'know? I'd love to see you draw more people of different ethnicities! (I find lots of pretty people of color at modelsofcolor.tumblr.com)

But that's really my only critique! I just am goggly eyed over your stuff because the lines are so smooth. Everything is really smooth!
