    Jo's Fantsy Realms

    A big hello to everybody
for some time now, I was constantely beated between to post or not my works I did for fantasy scenery for my own. About myself: i’m from Europe, a german-speaking area between Austria and Italy namely South Tyrol (think of it like of the village of Asterix).
I studied in Italy and graduated as teacher in anatomical drawing and sculpture.
About my works: sure, the pictures aren’t completely finished, but it isn’t my intent to do it, thinking of it instead as a continuing process that matures naturally with the time, simply doing it. Hope you enjoy looking at.

    Greetings and salutations,
    Jo

    some drawings first:

Well i like it, and i hope you'll keep posting more of this. What do you mean with fantasy pictures btw? I see these as experimenting with anatomical drawing, and fantasy more as naked girls riding on dragons and the like. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of that wouldn't you?

today a small update of an animal/creatur i actually try to develop. Usually i did anatomical work, but now i want more liberty with other stuff i like and need to take to.
    --
about special effects: honesty, i like to paint things without special effects, because: 'not everything whose is shining, is gold'. (like an assemblage of photo montages or too much texture brushes)
But i say ok to some stylish and some texture effects, since they become not too overlapping over a real mind-opening work in progress.

hey, You're welcome to express contructive critics!

    Hi there!

Beautiful sketchbook already, very well done with all of your practices! I especially thought your pen work fantastic - really attractive stuff in every way. Clearly you practice anatomy a lot, so keep on that.

The last picture - love the tone, can't wait to see where you go with it. One thing, the black shadow behind the front leg seems to separate it from the body a bit too much, perhaps.

    Best wishes,

    Ana

those anatomy studies are great, and the paintings very good
-We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.

-Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.

Bootiful! Keep going! Perhaps, pull out stuff that is closer to the viewer.
Although on second thoughts, it's so beautifully balanced at the moment,
it all depends on what look you are going for.

    Best,

You have a very interesting style there. I don't really know much what to say, it's just- interesting. I think if your beef up your knowledge about composition and such, you can really pull some nice stuff off. I personally prefer your traditional work over your digital, but that's just my opinion. Keep it going. Just do more

what do you mean by 'I don't really know much what to say'? i agree with you for the composition thing, but sometimes its nice to hear it from others too. Thx.

i'm constantly misunderstand, having trouble to get some Feedbacks to improve my work- its depressing to get no feedbacks. My style could be much stronger if this would be supported by sound critics.
Sometimes i think my work is boycotted of somebody. (Deviantart for example)

I like this last one. The colors and textures in it remind me of a children's book, but with the subject matter, maybe a monstrous children's book.

Your style is very interesting, and your studies in the first post are nice. I'd love to see more.

every time i begin to paint, i become nostalgic to draw with pencils too. Drawing is really important, if you want good ideas.

Composition is a mix of paint and draw, from my point of view. You have to show concepts and to add some colors to find a nice mood to it.
