Whew, wowza... I continue to boggle at your work; it's really fantastic. So productive, too! I need to get the lead out and be productive like this. I really love your line work a lot... that's something I have to work on. Just so many fantastic studies, I couldn't possibly comment on them all! This last one is really cool, how you used the reference for the basic lines, and then filled in the rest with imagination/memory.

Thanks! Wasn't very productive the last few days though. Been sick with a virus so I haven't done much.

Some doodles from imagination, working on adolescents. Hopefully I'll get more tomorrow. I did do a big environment, but I'm not allowed to post it yet (the second reason I don't have much done).

Finally starting to feel comfortable again without using references. The way they were having us draw in class was too structure heavy and didn't mess well with how I think out my drawings so it screwed me up for a while. I'm finally feeling it out again with these studies and other things. It's such a relief.

I'm trying to learn how to use flash, and this is my first animation using it. I'm pretty happy with it, though even I can tell there's a lot wrong with it. If anyone has any good animation tips/resources, I'd really love to hear them.

And here's a 10 min. doodle to loosen up. I used to do them a lot more, but I haven't been lately. It really helps though, so I think I'll get back into the habit.

And lastly some studies from observation and some non-referenced poses I cooked up.

@ kevin_, thanks, I get that frequently actually. Could you elaborate on where I'm going wrong? I have a hard time spotting it.

Great work in here. Your life study stuff at the start of your SB are really really nice.

I think your gesture work could use a little more "energy". Your figures tend to be a bit on the stiff side. Maybe try off setting their shoulder plane from their hip plane a little bit to get some more life to them (think Bridgeman).

Anyways, take my advice with a grain or two of salt, because I'm just a random guy on the intrawebz

    Keep up the hard work!

for instance on the last pic the girl in the bottom middle has really odd looking legs and feet. you could google human proportions and find stuff like humans are usually 7 heads tall and all that kind of stuff which is really helpful!

@ Syle, I completely agree about the stiffness. It's something I struggle with on and off with my work. I'm not a big fan of Bridgeman's style, but I'll definitely look into the hip/shoulder plane business. I think you're talking about adding more twist? I struggle with that the worst, I think. I'll make sure to do a study with just that in mind. Thank you so much, you were very helpful!

@ kevin_, ah, you're right about her lower legs and feet. They're more than a touch too long. She'd be at 7 heads if I shortened them. Thank you!

Hey DK: yeah! twisting is what I was getting at. Yeah, Bridgeman is definitely love it or hate it...his anatomy sometimes can be a bit wonky. Take care!

Thanks guys! It's great to hear some encouragement every now and again. c:

I was working on the CHOW this week, but I'm afraid I don't have any time left for it.

Did a study on torso twisting, a handful from reference and the rest from imagination. It's going to take some work to get the stiffness out of my work.

Trying to figure out how to paint hair, or at least develop my own way at it. It's challenging. Any tips would be welcome.

Took a break from studies and just did a few pictures for the fun of it. The first is a design for my friend, based off her description. The second was more of a color experiment in greys. I know the anatomy is off in it, but it was intentional.

Both were done using oekaki. It's so much easier for me to do more 'finished' work using it. I'm not sure why.

Work and some other things have kept me from doing any work lately.

This is what I've got for now, a commission for a friend of mine. It's her character.

Another thing I did for a friend. Now that school is right around the corner, I won't be posting as much probably, but I'll try to keep this as updated as possible.

That last illustration for your friend looks amazing.
The color scheme and mood is beautiful, and the expressions are so nice...
like we are watching a very intimate scene.

    Keep it up

I love the sentience in your paintings. Everything seems to have more life or story than what it's form merely suggests. Definitely keep it up!
