UPDATED IMAGES-->New Phyrexian and other images..

(UPDATED IMAGES ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE THREAD)

    Hey everyone,

Its been a long time and have downgraded my status to lurking. That is, until today before I go back to work.

Over the past year, I've been involved with many projects that have yet to see the day of light. Looking forward to sharing those images, perhaps, starting by next year as each project gets announced. Hence the lurking.

In the meantime, here is a small collection of recently released images from the Magic The Gathering- New Phyrexian set. Proud to be a part of the artist collective that Magic ropes-up, its a mighty pack of amazingly gifted artists.

And finally, a new experimental image that is a hybrid of 35% digital and 65% traditional. I've been back at the artist easel and hitting them oils against the canvas again. Rick Berry has been a huge inspiration for that.
    Chow!

Great to see your update!!! The last one is a beauty.

Watch the scale of the forearm on the first one...is a wee small. The other images are all excellent.

Quick round of replies... then I will be sure to add a few more new images later today/tomorrow.

Mr.Foster-> We should chat soon, miss hearing your soothing voice and every time I goto the book store I see your covers all over the place. They are always thoughtful, elegant, and can see your work evolving. Envy, I do. Olo says hello!

Jason Manley-> Thanks homme! Been too long as well, I'm usually available on IM if you wanna gab sometime soon. Good call on the forearm and did attend to that issue all ready. Completely agreed, small things like that can ruin a piece. Luckily its only one issue to fix.

DARYL---> The same goes to you, I really dig your style and approach. Noticed that you are also a regular with the sets.

isissousa-> Glad you see the emphasis placed on the colors. I do spend a lot of time playing around with the colors to find the either the right balance, mood, or readability.

SEVANS-> Sweet & thanks. When I first read the card description, it was hard to imagine a creature with flaming metal octopus limbs walking on dry land. It just took some time before it came together.

Velocity Kendall-> Thank you! I was inspired by the old war propaganda posters from Europe/Germany/Russia. Was a fun exercise to be inspired by historical events.

gdlr-> Much thanks, glad you dug that image.

Tawnos-> Awesome man, always good to know and much appreciated.

Thing i really like about it is there seems to be twice as much going on as is shown in the image. I always prefer that, it seems more natural, and also more engaging. WHY is this happening? WHAT the hell is that? It gives you a much bigger space to imagine the story than if everything is spelled out in a nice clear way. Not great for applications where clarity is key, but much more fun too look at and enjoy.

Awesome collection, Jason. I love the colors and the amount of details you put in these artworks. I'm really glad you decided to share these to us. The third image takes the cake for me. I like its surreal feel.

Velocity Kendall-> Yer speaking my language and really happy that you sense such things within the work. Its something that I strive for! BTW, your work is really stellar, love all the design work that you do.

john-briner-art-> Much appreciation. With my personal work, I'm always hinting or pushing avidly pushing the 'surreal'. Its always fun to try and see if I can add those type of elements into my production work.

stalsby-> Ah shucks man, danka. BTW, see below for more images!

Forrest_I-> The cards should be readily available to purchase now. The whole set is just amazing!

    niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

excellent work on the creatures, my favourite of yours being the metallic centipede, - its brilliantly executed, - I would totally understand if that was a supreme bugger to paint, simply for having to put such effort into each and every link, and that they harmonised naturally, with the highlights in just the right places -------

    five stars
