This was my design for CHoW #243, the water mage. I would appreciate feedback on my process.
More art will be posted later.

I love doing movie screenshot studies.
This is a girl I painted applying the stuff I learned from studying portrait photography lighting.

hey, nice start, you have a great variety of work here, i'm liking the latest figure sketches.
I noticed that the wheels on your car are drawn at the wrong perspective, they sorta look as though they are leaning to the rear.
Also, was the painting in your first post done from imagination or reference? if it was from reference it would be interesting to see the original.
keep up the good work!

Vehicles and figures are pretty good, keep it up, nice paintings too
-We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.
-Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.

@ joe'- Thanks for the feedback on the wheels. I've always struggled with ellipses, but I will draw more cars and try to fix it. As for the painting from my first post, I did use reference for the lighting on the face, but it was mostly painted from imagination. I've uploaded a comparison. Also if you're curious I got the photo from this blog post on dramatic lighting: http://ronrag.blogspot.com/2008/04/d...g-set-ups.html
@ rem92- Thanks. Let's hope they go from pretty good to awesome.
I thought I would upload some old art. This was a Halloween drawing:

I guess the trend for me is to update this sketchbook every month...
This is a cartoon illustration I made yesterday for fun. I'm trying to add more action and storytelling to my drawing.
Sargent Master study. Even though the chin and proportions are screwed up, I learned a ton just by studying Sargent's brush strokes.
This is a study of a photo my mother took on her vacation. It was a beautiful composition and I enhanced it with wide screen.
A movie study of Predators; a movie I didn't see yet, but it looks cool.
Painting practice. Female face.

These are some head/hairstyle studies - one of my biggest weakness! I tried to mix up the photo studies with copies from some of my favorite artists, as well as trying to apply what I was studying to my own sketches. In the end it helped, but I still have a lot to learn.

Something I was working on yesterday. Little Red Riding Hood; the wolf hunter.

I tried to improve the Little Red Riding Hood illustration by making the pose more interesting.

Some cartoon character designs.

Got back to doing some more pencil sketching! Character designs. Man do I love pencil drawing, beats sketching with the tablet any day. I prefer painting with a tablet though. I still have to learn how to use gouache...

Character designs are fun, I agree. This is a very fun gallery (the Red Riding Hood packing heat is hilarious). I think my favorite piece is the woman who seems to be able to control water through magic.
Visit my just a tad bit strange sketchbook: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=224247
My comic "Miss Doomsday" (here on CA): http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=223608

I haven't been on CA in over a year and I'm surprised it doesn't seem to changed much. I changed quite a bit though. I've been doing more environment art than characters and started learning Maya earlier this year. So while my character skills are rusty I made a lot of progress in other areas.
Since I decided to streamline my blog and gallery to show off only my personal work I have nowhere to put my studies. That's sorta a problem cause I used to be motivated to do daily studies, but recently I've been slacking without the push. So for now I'm going to use this CA thread to post daily studies and get back on track.
My goal is to see how far I can get from now until the end of summer.
Leyendecker Study:
Environment Study from Photo Reference:
Arkham City Study:
Iron Man 2 Study:
Fifth Element Study:
Various films like Iron Man, Hellboy, Mad Max, Pirates, Fifth Element and Romancing the Stone:
Some still life study:
Miyazaki Study. Forgot the movie but I'm sure people know:
After lunch I will upload some of my life drawings from the school year. Unfortunately there is no more figure drawing class for me until September![]()
These life drawings were taken from my own blog, haha. Drawn in figure drawing class of 2012, Jan-April. Obviously just a fraction of the drawings I did cause I filled over 30 pads of newsprint, but there's no way I'm photographing that many pages yet alone upload them.

The study for today; rhinoceros beetle! Unfinished, going to continue tomorrow.
