Hi, I'm Vella. I've been lurking for a bit but decided hey why not post.
Since finals are over next week it'd be a good time to start practicing drawing so I'll try to post here daily to get myself used to drawing every day.

My style is kinda cartoon-y, but I'm here to practice my realism too!

Of course, as with any sketchbook, newest is at the end. :3
And I'll update the icon from time to time as occasionally I'll make something new I'm proud of.

    Full version of that thumbnail.
I was trying to foreshorten the hand but it didn't come out quite right.

Welcome to CA! Daily's a great goal to have, good luck with that!

I like your style, the eyes are really cool. I think thickening the tips of the fingers lines a but would help your foreshortening problem a bit. The problem is all you're only working with shape, you have no indicator of form. To show depth like that you need some kind of overlap or contour lines that wrap around the forms. Fingernails would do that nicely.

Oh, I see! That makes much sense.
    I'll give it a try ^ -^

Aaaa I forgot about here, I cant believe it D:
I need to try doing some less stylized images...I tried doing a full body and struggled with the anatomy a lot.

here's something i just finished though...trying to work on my coloring more too!
i saw a thread that goes through some basics, I think I'll work through that and post them here. > u<

Great work! Like your quick sketches, they have a lot of energy. You should do what you like to draw. I also have a cartoon background and trying to learn more fine arts to get better. I think that really helps.

Trying some more interesting poses that I usually do.
Turns out I have a ton more fun drawing action-y poses rather than just still poses. ^^

Though when referencing a cat there are definitely some changes that need to be made to make it more lion-y, lol.

drawing in other style is super fun

these aren't my designs, I made them for other people to try and brighten their day
what I love most about drawing is being able to give a gift to someone, even if it's over the internet, and seeing how excited they get to have something like that :3

    Hi there!

Wow, your cartoon animals have absolutely outstanding expression in the way that they move, etc. Really great.
Try to draw more the stuff you are not comfortable with - expand the horizons.

    Best of wishes!

Love your style, subscribing to your sketchbook =] I agree with Jansi, the best way to get better is to leave your comfort zone and draw things you hate drawing or aren't so good at, can't wait to see some more stuff, keep it up!

    @Jansi; Thank you! ^ u^
Hrmm...that's something I really need to work on. I'm worst at scenery, so next time I'll upload some of that!

@CrownLullaby; thanks! yes I finished her up, but I wasn't totally happy with how she came out. I'll post her here anyway. c:

    @RaynaCendre; thanks! > //u//< -feels honored-
yes! Comfort zone is an odd thing..I always find that when trying to draw something out of it my style gets in the way...hopefully adding some realism to my artistic diet will help get rid of that?

Anyway, for now here's a girl I doodled trying to focus more on vague line work to express her body shape. I was really happy with how the lines came out, with the exception of her arm, then I added some fun colors c:'
It was a freebie drawing for someone. ^^

    Also the finished xbox girl~

Heading to the zoo tomorrow, so I'll defo try some landscape and animal drawings of course! > u<

I couldn't agree more with that! I saw you on DA like an hour ago, so I'm greatly amused to stumble across you here, too!

I really like the black and purple cat lady. The style is appealing to me, and suits the picture well.

@Vulpes-Rex; yes! haha, I saw your sketchbook and followed it to you da. x3

Zoo sketches! I wish I would have actually taken the time to do a detailed picture, but 100+ weather and friends who tagged along getting impatient I kinda rushed. After we ate lunch everything was pretty much hiding and asleep so didn't get as much as I would have liked. ^^'

I'll save you the zoo stories~
Going back later to do some more of the animals I missed.

some landscape concepts...soooo messy...I'll probably put them b+w first from now on and throw more contrast in since it seems very muddled at this point.

    oh well, learning experience. c:

hehe, i like how your Zooscribbles look as messy as mine do. Best thing is to go to the zoo alone, then you have more time. I will need to go alone next time as well :/

And i really like your cartoons and those ponies. Feels a little like childhood for me ^.^

Though it's kinda weird alone~ though I see photographers all the time so I guess it's not that weird. xD
Thanks! I'm glad I could shoot you some nostalgia. :3

Been busy so no real updates this time...though today I'm going to start reworking that last landscape I posted so I'll post the wips of that later~
