Ehz, I haven't posted anything new in awhile grr. Well, i doodle lots during school, but most of it is on index cards, and meh scanner is broken so i can only upload the stuff I draw on sai. The first pic below i drew yesterday from a reference! but then i lost the picture and i did the shading OOMH, so yeah i like the linearted version better because i suck trying to find a way to make hair. so therez.

Also the last few I did in september, gosh last week i was looking through them and relized i draw guy necks waaay to thin. you can thank one piece for that. I'll work on necks more later.

    Hey Ally,

keep up the realism studies - read and learn about proportions, forms and basic shapes of things, and know how they exist in 3D even before you go to draw them from reference (ex: learn how the eye-lids fit around the eye ball as curved planes over a sphere and, when you go to draw the eyes in a portrait - draw what you see, but also what you now know)

There is a lot of work ahead, but I'm so excited for you that you are starting to take this seriously at such a young age - you are going to be amazing if you keep up the ambition and hard work!

13? orz I hate myself for not being serious about art when i was your age...You're going to be awesome if you keep work hard. Start posting more stuff!
I think Andrew Loomis would be a great source to study from if you don't know him, he's great for learning the basics of realistic art.

Haha you remind me of me when I was 14... so you are one year ahead of me I'd say!!

One thing I totally recommend from my mistakes back when I was 14 and starting out is don't delve tooooooo deeply into anime... It actually messed me up later on anatomy, expressions, the lot I really needed to work on it and I'm still getting called out for it 3 years later!

But yeah thats my heads about because once you get her on ConceptArt, yes, you will notice a lot of the guys here bantering on telling you to forget the anime for a while, because as much as its a beautiful style... it's often times limiting!

Hey Ally, you got a good start to your sketchbook. Like everyone's been saying, just keep up with the studies from life and what not, but you don't have to have your head in the anatomy books all the time.

I like the first image in post 4. Even though anime isn't really my thing, it's very, very cute.

Here's some suggested reading for ya:
Drawing the Human Body, An Anatomical Guide by Giovanni Civardi
Drawing People, How to Portray the Clothed Figure by Barbara Bradley
Cyclopedia Anatomicae by Gyorgy Feher and illustrated by Andras Szunyoghy

Damn, so I actually forgot I had one of these accounts! Well, im 14 now, and i'm soo not planning to stop drawing anime. But i like drawing realistically too, and now I use lots of refs from Getty and stuff~

Sorry for all the half-nekid guys! And Im not posting anything realistic because my scanner died a few months back.
