hey guys-
i'll be in the UK (staying in Maidenhead) from the 21st to the 28 dec.
Will definately be going to the rockwell exhibith and hopefully go and visit some museums.I'm up for food/drinks/sketching and hopefully meet some new and familiar faces
Purb, stew- yep, the 30th is a good time for a sketchmeetup... lemme know any suggestions, but so far meeting up in central london is a good option to start with (the Glasgow Painters show is still on, but you have to pay to enter, advance warning)
Gnoll- This thurs 23rd we're planning on heading down to the dulwich gallery, anyone else interested in tagging along? probably will be there from 12 onwards, depending if the weather doesnt go awesome again![]()

Nice one. See you guys tomorrow at Dulwich and on the 30th.
Hey Ryan! good to hear that you'll be in the UK. Do you think you'll be able to make it tomorrow too? It'd be nice to see you again! If not, merry christmas!!
Unless the trains are delayed, I'll be there by 12:30-1pm at Dulwich, see y'all there tomorrow
You can get trains from London Bridge station, or buses outside Brixton station (Victoria Line) to get to the Dulwich Picture Gallery.
Look out for a bunch of people with sketchbooks in the exhibition space! Don't be afraid to ask![]()

What's the story with the 30th? Are you guys interested in including a Nando's in there?
TheGnoll, Belindi, flurry, Vatsel- nice to see y'all at Dulwich!
AEFX- hmm, dunno bout Nando's... the plan seems to be to meet up near Piccadilly Circus, catch the RA show (pay at entrance)... so pretty much it'll be around central london, probably can arrange for a Nandos thing later in the evening.
Any other suggestions or alternative plans?

Will be there tomorrow, looking forward to it!
any of you brit-holes know a good place to get educational art books? (mainly portraits/landscapes) i have accrued an unmentionable amount of library fines unfortunately, the waterstones cardiff-way never have what i need (seems like your london-stores have them though) and i found a hogarth in forbidden planet by random fluke. Nonetheless,as much as im happy to order things from amazon, etc i wondered if there was a shop of note ive been overlooking? Being an old fashioned scholar i tend to like TOUCHING THE PAGES of my purchases.
Danke.

footsteps: most of my books are bought on recommendation from other artists and theyre almost always worth it . waterstones can order in books, i dont think you even have to pay first
waterstones off picadilly circus have a lot of books(in the practical art section) but ive never heard anyone rate books that are specifically on portraiture or landscapes
Cool, see you guys tomorrow!

This place seems to be pretty quiet these days. Has everyone moved to a different community?
No Mr Man, the meet up today had a lot of people!
Is anyone interested in popping over to paris for the jean-leon gerome exhibition in musée d'orsay? i will be going over next month, 99 works and first show of its kind in 40 years!
sleep: haven't checked the prices but shouldn't be too expensive, was just gonna make a day of it sometime in mid/late january
Argh should have gone to that last one :/
Jean-Leon Gerome looks like a great day out, maybe pop into the Louvre if we have time?
The Musée d'Orsay stays open late on Thursdays (9:15) so that might be a prime time to go.
AAnd its free for you young guys. Oldies pay 8 euros.
Also; Happy New Year UK people and CA!
