Nice start man , im 19yo and i started to learn drawing about 4 months ago , from almost zero level .
Keep it up , and my suggest is just dont give up and draw whenever you have a time ^^
Soz for my English , i hope u can understand me
Good start. ooohhh I know the ref from the first sketch you got here, i've used it many times myself ;p I'd say keep drawing from life/using reference, until you feel confident enough to wing something without it. you can clearly tell which ones were done with and without it, and honestly the ones you used ref are the better ones. Keep it up.
Remember that your face has anatomy that needs to be constructed as well, just like the body. Take a look at this and good luck
I agree with Sprogis, you should study some faces. Great work on the anatomy studies though, you're off to a great start. At least you're not like the masses of teenagers who just draw bad anime.![]()

it'll stress you out even more so there's really nothing we can do about it after all."
Thanks guys, i will make some faces studies, and continue to the legs in anatomy as well as make some gestures, school is getting hard right now with all the final exams and stuff so its kinda hard right now, but i wont give up.

holy crap, that last post is excellent, compared to the other stuff you've posted before. NICE!
Thanks PLeon, but those are a lot of work and hours, i dont think i'll be able to post like that often, thats work i did through the school semester but yeah, it's helped me improve a lot, trying to understand the form and stuff, and semester is almost over, which i means VACATIONS!! which means ill be able to draw from morning to night, so i can flood this thread with more stuff (^.^) yay!

Just curious how often you draw from a reference? Mainly asking because if you compare the form class stuff to your other stuff the key difference I bet is (besides time put in) that you were drawing from a reference and just drew what you saw.
Studies are good to do don't get me wrong, (Don't forget to actually 'study' them and not just copy though) but drawing from life or at least a reference also does wonders. Especially if your paying attention when your drawing on how the body or whatever it is your drawing appears as you do it.
Give it a shot, google images is your best friend for this kind of stuff as far as references go. Something like candid walking around or something where people are in a natural pose are some of my favorites to mess around with recently
Hey i really like your drawings. You have some great looking stuff here keep it up!! Practice makes Permanent!!

Hey you are very right, i barely ever draw from reference, thing is, i wanted to first finish figuring out anatomy, maybe im wrong by doing that?, i do know that my characters look weird and stuff, their posses etc, and i know its cause i dont draw the figure from reference, im going to start soon though : ), thanks

Hi Rem! Your classes studies are very nice. Your other steches are missing something.
As you are learning, I suggest some simple exercises: if you have a camera, a mobile that can be used to make some shots, shoot your friends, girlfriend and peasants.
Then, get the shots and draw or paint directly over them, in a separated layer on your painting/photo-editing program.
By doing this, you'll not only exercise the anatomical part, but also color schemes and lighting.
And, keep going![]()
O = interesting, i will certainly do that, thank you!

Hi there!
I completely agree with the comments given above. The class studies are first-class and you have to apply that much effort to everything you do - you will jump-progress in no time! The portrait is stunning. Try turning your line drawings up a notch by giving them form too. For example, don't you think that zombie could pop out of the page so much more?
Best wishes,
Ana

Yes i guess my charcoal studies really stand out from the rest of the things in my SB, haha, and they took long long hours, but im actually not a fan of charcoal drawing, so yeah, i guess i really should change they way i go about line drawing, usually i dont care much for form in line drawing, i pay attention to the shapes, how can give them more form?? rendering them differently? i guess i could start seriously cross hatching 'em so i can give them more sense of form, Thanks!

There are different ways of doing it. I think what you can do the quickest is just look at other sketchbooks around here of people who do the line drawings (not mine). There are many many of ways to make them pop-out, and you will see many here. Even varying the intensity of the line can get you places - look and experiment!
[UPDATE] Have you tried using toned paper? With some darker and lighter inks, for example.
Best wishes,
Ana
P.S. I don't like charcoal either. Pencil or pen for me, please. :-)
Jansi
Actually, i'been thinking of buying some toned paper book and use white pencil or colored charcoal to give my figures more form, i just haven't had a real necessity to go to the art store, my sketch books pages are running out though, so im gonna have to stack up again soon. : ) so by inks yo mean like, indian ink or markers, or regular pens? i dont really use ink, just those black pointer liners.

Hey, thanks for visiting my sketchbook. Looked through yours & its looking good. You have some really nice stuff in here, like the portraits a lot.
The stuff from post #7 is kick ass! Your anatomy studies need a lot of work. At this point it would help you a lot more if you learned perspective drawing and drawing the figure with basic structure before getting too carried away with anatomy. It looks like you're studying from good sources like Ron Lemen, but it also seems like you're copying the drawings without understanding. A good way to test your knowledge of structure is to take one of those anatomy drawings and try to draw if from another perspective view. This will kick your ass at first, but eventually you will understand drawing in 3D and your drawings from imagination will be better. Vilppu and Michael Hampton's books are really good for learning structure and they cover anatomy later in their books as well.
Thanks visoutre, that was a really helpful reply

I agree with what others have said, your class studies (those are some great leg studies) are really really good. I think you feel more comfortable with a pencil/pen, as opposed to digital at the moment. I think if you dedicate a week or two of just doing digital everything (life studies, environments, whatever it is that you actually like drawing, painting, etc) I think you will eventually get more comfortable with it. Anyway, good stuff, keep it up![]()
You need more practice. Good exercise to sketch simple subjects (nuts, handles, balls, ware) under one light source. It will help to understand as illumination and the object form are interconnected.
Your class stuff is awesome, I definitely agree with those saying that you'd probably benefit from drawing more from reference, it can help you really get perspective down on poses. While it's important to make sure you focus on anatomy studies, I'd say making sure you can apply anatomy to the real world is good too![]()
keep at it, you're doing well!
Yeah, so here are a couple of figure drawings... and a portrait im working on, its not done yet... bout 70 % thru with it. tell me what you guys think... haha there is something really wrong with the guy's neck. ill got to fix that
