Some more character stuff I've been working on lately.
Also, a quick movie still (the guy) and an exploration of a car
IsaacEs: Al don Ramón se parece!? Jajaja, si tenía en mente alguien un poco mas cubano que él jaja.

Looking good man. The car looks really good. What year was it?
Buen sketchbook, esta muy bueno tu trabajo... me gustan mucho los estudios que haces, tu ''brushwork'' esta excelente, sigue asi, me gustaria ver mas!
Time for a quick update here! Been working with some scenario stuff, but yet there is a lot to learn... and not much idea on how to start haha, any ideas?
Gpozzo: muchas gracias por la visita! Más? Bueno, no puedo subir muy seguido como quisiera, pero aquí hay un poco más. en un futuro estaré escaneando mi trabajo en cuadernos y de más.
Pete Hidalgo: Thanks man! Haha, the car's year? no idea... I've never been good with that stuff XD

Very striking work. You really present well, something i'm trying to better understand. The textured and psuedo-traditional brushes you use lend a lot to the imagination of the observer. Even just the simple blocked or roughed backgrounds on your sketches really help substantiate them, a nice trick.
I've been so attached to my hard round it is becoming mostly the only brush I use! Which is limiting me a lot, I think. I'll try to take a tip from your work and diversify my stokes.![]()
Anyway, looking forward to seeing more art! *Subscribed*
Havn't upload anything since the new site came in!
Some hand studies from george bridgman, well, not exactly studies since those are the exact same drawings haha, I'll work on some of my own, don't worry
I also have a lot of stuff to upload regarding traditional sketchbooks! But those need to be scanned... some time in the near future XD
Thanks for passing by!![]()

Wonderful Sketchbook !!! great lines, great paintingslooking forward fore more !
Are you using pastels/chalk to do the color in your sketchbook or is that added digitally?
Hi there!
---
@tj0ri = thank you very much! I'm back here and hopefully keep updating, at least weekly, with whatever comes to my mind.
@ PMjdavisillustration = Those were colored with prismacolor colored pencils, nothing digital.

I was Trying out the painter pattern brushes and I just found such amazing effects and endless possibilities! Expect a huge increase in such stuff XD
there is another quick landscape scene I did, trying to tell a story, but I've always been so bad at it...
That's why I watched some guy's video on drawing narratives and decided to give it a try with these simple rounded forms. Nothing special I know, but Is good to try different things and aim for better results.
Any comments or suggestions on topics regarding illustration, narrative, or how to create a good picture that actually say something are greatly appreciated! Haha, I'm just tyred of drawing standing guys...

Time for weekend update!
Among other stuff I finished this pic of a fox cartoon; a character I've drawn for a while.
I also worked with some ideas for a feline character, and a girl came in haha, which reminds me of my head and face studies I have to work with!
And also did some movie still practice, 10 min each.
Please, let me know what you think, I'll be glad to hear all of your comments.

Lovely brushwork. Such a smirker, that Duncan
Very attractive design, diggin all the little details on his gear, seams and buckles and insets and stuff. I've probably said it before, but I really love the way you handle cloth. And its cool to see your process roughed out.
I have to give one structural observation.
With such high polish its hard not to notice his torso musculature is pretty high on his body. I can see you are going with stylized, exaggerated extremities, but, it was just something that jumped out at me. Regardless, overall aesthetics and presentation are very striking. Jealous of those color skills, man.
EDIT: Oh yeah, i like the feline, hope you work more on him![]()
i really like the progress visible in your sketchbook, very inspiring actually!
Very inspiring sketchbook
Well, I've been trying to post in this place and keep this Sketchbook updated for more than a year I believe. Unfortunately, I have to admit it's not easy for me to update as often as I should...
Don't know, It just seems that I have very few free time to upload stuffs to the internet... but what I know is that if I want to get somewhere, internet is a must. In that matter, I'll try this sketchbook thing once again.
I've noticed too that very often I run out of "sketch ideas". That is, I don't know what to draw, specially what to draw to become better. And for that I should know what "better" means to me. Like, where I want to go, what I want to achieve. Well, I realized in the past couple of months the true art form that animation is. That's why I'll return here with a new focus: animation. Anything related to it, from how I can improve and become a good animatior to inspiration and criticism is welcomed.
I've opened a blog which I've been using as a "animation sketchbook" : http://animatedskycat.blogspot.mx/
and a tumblr too, where I upload random stuff: http://arturoarias.tumblr.com/
The third place I'll showcase my work will be this one, so let's begin trying to update it, making it useful not just as a sketchbook but also as a journal.
I'll begin with the process I followed to achieve a Goat Guy Character whose special power is to manipulate grass...It turned out to be not a good idea but well, there you have XD.
and digital sketches. Hand made sketches will come on another update ( I must scan those)
And that's pretty much all for today.
I have more stuff, animation related specially, and handdrawn sketches as well. Those nice and more fresh things will come on next updates during the week, so stay connected.
Hello again and thanks for reading ^^

Two traditional sketches. The Shoes were done with oils in one night.
The cat character was done with some squash in mind. I'm trying out new ways of making expressions and rounded figures.

Now that this place is active again I'll upload something I've been working on. If you can help with some tips on painting, use of color, that'd be great. Any other kind of critic or comments to improve are very welcome too!![]()
