    Cow All sketches

Hi there this is cerealist speaking. Well I m a beginner... just bought my very first wacom tablet last year (April 2010).

i pursue to develop my drawing skill which i have taken light after i ve learned 3D modelling during my study in product and industrial design.

Not until i ve noticed there re alot of great artwork, great concept artists around the world, I want to pick up my pen to draw again. However after these few years of study, work in different fields and my days in the army, i lost much of the skill and patients in drawing. So i decided to learn how to draw again through this journey of self learning experience, watching alot of online tutorials, browsing u guys' works. trying out this brush, that brush and download new brush. This is not only for my personal interest, but my determination to get a job related to drawing and painting!!

Again, i m a super newbie. i dont have knowledge on digital painting.. have been struggling for 1 year 3 months. Please give me advice and critics as much as possible. thank you very much.

Hello, welcome to the board and getting started with a sketchbook. Seems you're off to a good start, can't really comment about the pieces.

What are your goals and things you plan to work on? It helps to have a goal for the sketchbooks, allowing us to offer better critiques. And don't be afraid to show in progress pieces or pieces you're having problems with.

    Good luck.

I love the black & white one with the robot.

My overall tip for you would be to work on your line quality, try working with fewer and more confident lines (vary the thickness, speed etc). Same thing goes partially for colors, makes 'em look smeary.

As for the paintings (in color) I would advise avoiding the use of black & white for shadow and light, more interesting that way.

On the yellowish painting you should be more careful with the color, there's a strong very contrast between the eyes and the rest of the painting where there is almost no contrast.

Also i think you should draw hair in bigger lumps like you do on the red & white painting.

I hope you see this as good critique from one learning artist to another.

    Peace!

Hey Wroom thanks a lot for the very useful comments and tips!

u are right. i m a new art pad user. i ve been using the pad for more than 1 months but still, cant get myself adapt to it in very small scale, as in most of the lines are inaccurately put and drawn. i did a lot of undo and erasing.

Love stories If you have an outline of any of your stories you could PM me them and I could crit them. I suggest doing and showing us some of your pencial drawings, I belive that drawing traditionally is an important foundation

Do some still lifes and some photo studies. Grab some anatomy books and study those too!

Nice start. Your sketchbook is getting great.
I think you should try more opaque brushes cause your work is a little blurried on edges.

    Keep going!

thank so much. drawing unconfirmed outlines is my weakness.

today i try to set the background in higher dpi before i start my sketches for the day... man i ve just discovered setting in higher dpi also means being more sensitive and more accurately detecting my pen tip the Painter is..

Yeah nonobot i love that robot too~ that s the only PS sketch i have by the way..

well somehow i want to focus on using painter, but i still think PS is much easier to use, and control in terms of the uses of the brushes..may be i should change to use PS instead.

    more girl sketches..

    Nice paintings so far!
Looks already great but i would recommend you to use standart brushes a bit more. There are so many customs in it. Try to focus on the basics and then tack the custom brushes to give the picture the final look!

    Greetings, Sil

Edit: Looked at your last painting again. Ok there the brush use is better! Go on!
