It's good to see more and more like you who have a desire to learn the crafts of drawing.
Take this advice with a grain of salt, since I'm certainly nowhere near where I want to be as an artist, either.
Draw the things you want to draw... all the time. Make them your focus.
Elaborating a bit: you will become frustrated, almost surely, much of the time. Use this "frustration" as fuel to work harder, be more meticulous, etc., in pulling off your visions.
If you have an idea of how to improve your work, and you know you can do it, redo pieces of art you have done that you think "stink". Do picture after picture after picture.
Eventually, you'll get to the point where you believe you've made your best effort. At this point, take your work to a group of professionals and get honest critiques on it. Because at this point, you're beyond your own objectivity. Their perspectives on your work will open your eyes toward avenues of study. Take what they say to heart. If they say that the perspective sucks, ask them for the best resources on perspective you can find. And work on it HARD. Then try it again. This process can take months.
If, on the other hand, you aren't frustrated at all with the work you're doing, get some critique as in the previous step. Whenever you feel like you're doing your best work is the best time to get busted down a few pegs by the honest observations of professionals.
Don't go to that step too early, however, or you risk wasting your own time and the critiquers' time. In other words, if you already know what is wrong, find ways/instruction/exercises to fix the errors and get to work!
Hope that's not too much to handle. I have to practice what I preach as well--currently I'm in a downswing with my work and I have to pull out of it.
Good luck!

yo those box exercises are really helping. I see improvement. But what I don't see is how you're learning the basics and doing them good, and then when it comes to a master painting you don't even demonstrating what you learned from the basics?
that's working backwards if you ask me. Actually, if you study the basics and you do good at them, you should be able to translate that into the master paintings. But I barely see it. Maybe I'm being to critical, or maybe you're too intimidated by master copies to do them justice. Either way. I know you can do better!
start UTILIZING those basics your practicing man!

All that painting practice is great, I see some progress! But when it comes to drawing people I would suggest drawing more actual figure studies rather than just paintings. Doing quick gesture studies would help and studying anatomy is an absolute must, not to mention more studies in traditional media. You would definitely profit from doing some face studies as well! Painting is challenging, but painting something you can't draw properly or understand is down right discouraging.
Keep it up! And those block paintings are looking really nice : )

NatSmall:thanks for the advise. I do draw traditionally i just dont post them, lol. I also study anatomy on pencil its still kinda hard to apply all the things youve learned, haha. I guess that'll take time on my part =/ Thanks for stopping by!

Yesterday when I was browsing around Smuli's sketchbook he posted a link of portraits where you can use to practice on. So I decided to do a daily portrait from now on. Cant wait to see some improvement. The first 2 were from Idiot Apathys workshop. The first one i forgot to add some reflected shadows, lol.

Good job with the studies, your colors are getting more accurate! I don't know if you start with lines but in the portraits, the facial features sometimes look off in a way that could be helped by sketching the basic construction before you start painting. Take a look at the way Loomis teaches drawing heads here.
I like your persistence on churning out the studies, keep up pushing yourself!
