    The start of a journey

Hello everyone, I have been on this site for awhile but only recently made an account so this is my first post, I always wanted to upload on this site but was afraid but I realised if I did not upload I would not know where I can get , recently however I lost my job and decided I would just pursue my dream of being an artist, the work you are about to see is very amatuerish and I have no scanner so everything has been taken by a digital camera, so sorry in advance for the picture quality. Since I lost my job I tought I would do drawings every day and will be applying for college soon wahey :3. I got alot of art books but being pointed in the right direction would be nice ^-^, all criticism and advice greatly appreciated, so lets get started for day one
P.s I do not know how to work these posts so you might see many mistakes in postings >.<

Congrats on deciding to follow your dream! Work hard and don't give up!
Looks like you already have a great start. The only think I can think of suggesting is to draw a lot from life, observing angles and tone, and to draw from the Old Masters (even the loose sketches that they did would be profitable to copy). Also, put aside drawing time in which to just play around and have fun with what you learned, without really caring about the result.

    Keep it up!

@Jorvaa. Thank you very much for your input, I will certainly be drawing more from life and master studies very soon

You have the right idea with those Bargue studies, but if you look up mycandyman you will see how to do them much more efficiently. You will really get your eyes trained if you do them the slow tedious way. What school are you going to?

Thank you Shehaub, I will look up mycandyman, and the only way is the hard way so I do not mind doing the slow tedious work . I will be going to Galway Fine Arts if I am lucky, but it is really high demand so I will have to work my butt off. Anyways, time for update 3, day 3, just a quick self portrait, a Leonardo study and an infant nose study .
Also I will be out of town tomorrow so no uploads till Saturday, thanks again guys .

Your hatch lines on this last set are an AWESOME improvement!

I was mistaken it is Mindcandyman that had a good thread on bargues and it is HERE. He went on to do some incredible stuff after starting these. Check him out.

Keep observing, keep practicing that hatching and keep posting.

Love the craziness of the hair on that last one. When working with the charcoal try blocking those shadows into distinct shapes first, then blending and hatching over top of it. What paper are you using?

Thanks for the advice Shehaub, never used charcoal before so I was not sure how to apply it, but now I do . I am using sketch pad paper, not sure what the name of it is, I should probably invest in quality stuff in the future.

    Day 7 Update 6

I done some pose studies but I could not get a picture of them that they showed on the paper (I was using a 4h pencil and my camera kept giving too much of a flash so you could not really make them out) but I did do a leg muscle study aswell so here it is (I will try get the pose studys up if I can).
