Good to know Mail Loop...Im a big fan of Frederic Edwin Church and the rest of the Hudson River School. I see his work is there... Can't wait to see it up close and personal.

Bay Area figure drawing info : :

I think some of this has already been posted (I know i did awhile back) but...

There is a huge list of Bay area figure modeling sessions at http://www.artistresource.org/lifedraw.htm (some seem to be outdated. some are still ongoing - PA, SOMA)

Also there are two groups that put on figure drawing marathons about every two months....
    Oakland - http://bayareamodelsguild.tripod.com/
Palo Alto - until recently http://www.paenjoy.org/. But now this site doesn't seem to list them anymore. The next one is on the Nov. 20th. I think I overheard someone saying they might stop having the PA marathons cause attendance has been slumping of late. I'd encourage some of you to show up to the next one so we don't loose it for good.

    if there isnt already?

I want to meet the CA people around SF, and maybe start somekind of weekly sketch group.

    Whaddya say? whos interested?

does anyone know of any good live drawing sessions in the city we could hit up on a regular basis? Ive heard of one down in the mission on tuesdays, have any of you gone there? Mayhaps we start our own?

    ideas?

The Figure session in the Mission is pretty cool, it's 10 bones but there's free wine and the model's are usually pretty good. Unfortunately the lighting isn't the best.

But there's also one on saturday mornings from 10-1 for $5 at the SOMArts center on 9th and Brannen. The room is not big enough but it's a decent session. I think I'm going to try and go tomorrow... if i wake up

If anyone else has been to another one lets hear it!

Sergio: Congratulations on the show man.

Ok, so i know theres a bunch of you out there....

Ive been mulling over the idea of starting a sketch group and/or figure drawing session sometime during the week and i want to know whod be interested in doing it and what days would be best for everyone.

    any interest here?

what stuff like this is already going on? theres doesnt seem to be much activity on here and i know youre all out there lurking. Anybody know of drawing sessions already going on? i know of one in the mission on tuesday nights and one on saturday mornings in SOMA, but i imagine theres gotta be more out there.... AAU/AI students, is there any way we can get in on the school stuff?

    shout out.

EDIT= never mind, theres plenty goin on already (see below) so why dont we meet and hit one up?

Hey Layil, I was actually thinking of putting together a plein air/sketch outing within the next couple weeks. Possibly even Sunday. Anybody interested? I'm thinking somewhere within the City; an urban scene or some of the more outdoorsy areas like GGPark, or the Sunset area.
I should have my new guerilla paint box in a couple days so I'm pretty excited about taking it out for a spin.

Just finished working on a very intense project tonight, so I'm gonna pass on going out tomorrow and enjoy some free time with the lady instead. I think next weekend should be open if anyone is interested. The industrial area near HP sounds interesting.... is it relatively safe? The mere mention of HP makes me a little uneasy.

i live in a dangerous industrial neighborhood (west oakland) and i never have any problems... people tend to leave artists alone by and large i think. regardless, during the day and in a group, we wont have anything to worry about. Getting down there can be a pain in the ass though, so we should find someone with a car to get us down there.

any volunteers? cmon, with the gorgeous weather we've been having, theres factories just screaming to be painted.

alternately, theres some nice places by me, and easier to get to perhaps...
    just a thought.

Hehe, West Oakland is definitely not HP (I believe cops won't even come to a complete stop when patrolling HP), but you know the painting spot better than I do.... and you obviously survived scouting it out so that says something.
Let's do this! I can supply the car .... er, I should say my pimpin' minivan. How does this Saturday sound?

Looks like we have a few people on for Saturday. Main Loop and a couple of his friends, and an old friend of mine from art school so far, and Layil if you're good for Saturday. Anybody else? PM me for info, phone# etc.

Just moving to your part of the country

I start at Visual Concepts next Wednesday(31), in San Rafael. I'd liked to maybe meet up at a coffie shop or pub and draw every once in awhile. Maybe go to the Zoo on weekends. I need to start painting and modeling my sketchy sketches. I'm going to take a beginning painting class start painting my sketches. Well nice to meet you all, Kip

I'll try to update this gallery every week, but let me warn you they are sketchy sketches, pure fun. Cools,

I'm looking into renting an art studio in the near future and am looking for another CA.org artist or two to share the space with. Possibly West Oakland/Emeryville, or somewhere in the City. My own needs include a well lit space that's large enough to step back from a painting without bumping into your station. I could pay up to $200 (I could go solo, but I like company and saving expenses and can probably get us a space for roughly $150/mo each). I could check into finding a partner or two on craigslist, but I much rather have a CA member for a studiomate(s). Aside from my own studio furniture, common items will include a small fridge, a coffee station, and possibly a couch. I'd like to have a space large enough to accommodate a model once in a while and perhaps we can invite other CA members for sketch sessions to help with costs.

If any of you are interested, please contact me at [email protected].

    zoo?

I've never been to the zoo in San Fran. Is it any good. I used to drive 2hrs from the middle of Illinois to Indianapolis just to draw animals. I was thinking of going this Sunday(to the San Fran zoo). Maybe some other people want to go? Maybe not? Cool

shit its probably too late to organize something. If however you getting this before sunday or late sunday. Give me a call 217-766-3000. If not this Sunday maybe we can get more organzied and do this thing next Sunday. Or if you have other suggestions of other places to draw or something I'm game. Maybe just draw and hang out in a pub or coffie shop. During the week I pretty much have to work quite a bit. So after work I'm going to be doing my own 3d stuff. Give me a call anyway I love meeting new people.

I found an atlier I'm sure you gals/guys have heard of it,
    http://www.atelierschoolofclassicalr...7_contact.html

if you've heard of it and its sucks let me know. I'm enrolling in the September Saturday classes.

At work(visual concepts) they mentioned taking sculpting classes on wednesdays from some ilm dude. He's taking next month off. I'll get more info and post it.

Anyways I'm totally new, unfamilar with San Fran and would like to hang out, draw with you folk so give me a buzz sometime, once again 217-766-3000. Coolz. Oh and I'll be scanning 20-40 sketchy sketches tonight, so look for them tommorow or Monday if you are so inclined. www.cgkip.com

Alright Have a great Saturday night and Sunday!
