I really love all the silhouettes in your SB! Silhouettes are one of my favorite exercises and I don't do them nearly as often as I should Crazy jealous of your creatures and renderings as well!

    Keep up the good work!

So varied in your creatures man really cool, frog has good froggy texture too. My crit would be your shadows sometimes get quite dark, think more about the bounce light

Art Minded: Thanks, mate! I suggest you go do some silho's right now! It's a great excersice for generating ideas!

    TFsean: Thanks, man!

These are kinda poopy, but I thought I'd post them anyways...first one was a quick sketch for IDW, will see if I can expand on the idea and create something usable. A quick silho done for cow, wasn't planning on participating, but the idea still popped into my head, also some stuff for chow, dragon rider.

Edit:also forgot about these wips that were done for cow 250...my initial plans for that topic was to do an illustration for all the elementals, but the fire elemental took way too long...stupid details

    Hey Rob--

Great stuff going on here! Your human anatomy is looking really strong in this weeks CHOW. The second dragon rider looks good, though to me a little off balance due to the curve of her left leg. I really admire your rendering style. Keep it up!

Your latest creatures are really sweet. I like your latest chow pretty much (I'm following ze thread) One suggestion would be to lower the riders boobs a little bit, cuz now it kinda looks like she's having the most brutal push-up brah evah D:

    zy.: Thanks!

Baconstrap: I'd just like to thank you for giving me a reason to reference women's cleavage , I knew something was off but I couldn't quite figure it out.

some silhouettes I've wipped up for cow...Extreme Sexual Dimorphism, yes it is as fucked up as it sounds...lol just wanna point our that the male is actually going to be fairly small about a thrid the size if not smaller of the scuba dude that you may not have noticed...

Dude you've got some awesome ideas, but you really need to do more value studies and more than that thumbnails. Your work would be so much better for the introduction of composition and dramatic light. I feel you get too into the detail before it's needed and some of it if I'm honest isn't needed. You've got heaps of talent and I really want to see you smash through to that next level!

    Much love

    GEB: Thanks, mate!!

latest cow and chow (which is actually unfinished) unfortunately while I was working on my cow, for some strange reason I ended up overwriting my photoshop file for this chow, I have no idea how it happened since I always use the same keys when saving, Ctrl+shift+S then, enter, enter which quickly saves my file, but I must have clicked on the dragon rider file by accident while doing that, now I'm stuck with this flattened low res image >_< SUNUVA!!!!....anyways not the end of the world, but not too happy about that situation...oh well shit happens...

updated cow entry...gave it some more stuff in it's environment such as rock formations and fish and birds and stuff....it kinda looked a bit empty before...also a wip for this weeks iow, it is based on Yutyrannus huali which was recently discovered and is currently (with fossil evidence) the largest feathered creature that has ever existed

I'm liking your design for the male-female variation cows. The feathered dinosaurs look more like fur dinosaurs to be honest. Not sure why as I suck at creature drawing, but this is where more animal studies could come in handy.

fireblade: thanks, man! It is probably good that it looks like fur since the feathers are meant to be filamental, closer to underdeveloped down rather than your typical flight feathers with a central barb.

    Thanks, guys!!

Been a little absent recently, however, I was still lurking here and there.
Here's a wip for IOW, Royal Portrait. Wanted to go for something less fantasy or sci-fi. Having fun with this one, there's something about older dudes that just makes them so fun to paint and draw.

Love the jaw on that last dragon. It's very convincing as a swamp monster. You've got some really cool monster designs here in general.

Only crit I have is that somtimes you make the shadows too black. Make sure to block in the light early to get it right

Your COW contributions are great too, hope you manage to finish the latest one.

    Keep posting!

    Thanks guys!

Quick contribution for cow. Didn't have time to create a fully rendered illustration. So I'll settle with a concept sketch.

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!
