I think, you are on a good way with your studies! always go on with them.
Maybe you can try to work more with masses and 3D forms whan you do gesture drawings, not just so many contour lines.
Some more digital still life paintings would be good too, because your colours haven't a natural look at moment. Life painting, photo studies and studies from the old masters can help

    Gestures

    Thanks Valvayande,
At some point I'll try the gestures with a sketchbook, I totally understand about the three dimensional shapes. Going back to the sketchbook though, I'm better traditionally. Maybe I'll lengthen the gesture time so I can focus on shapes over lines.

Quick figure sketch after about a hundred gestures.

Wow, I'm gonna keep doing gestures, the definitely help with posing the figure from imagination!

    Question TShirt Design ideas

This is all I have right now, hopefully I'll have more stuff to post soon. Which design do you think is better though?
The design is for one of the teams participating in AngelRide, an annual state-wide road biking challenge for the benefit of children suffering from cancer and leukemia. For the bikers, it's a two day event, starting at the top of Connecticut, in Norfolk, and finishing at the bottom of Connecticut, in Mystic, the day later.
I'm designing the tee-shirts for one of the teams (not the bikers, their supporting families).
    Any help would appreciated.
The final format would be done in Illustrator, and sent to BlueCotton for final screen printing.

*edit* These are by no means final art at all.

    Color Figure Study
Did this in about an hour. Forcing myself to work after my graduation party died down completely. Ugh. Just gotta get myself over this hump of "oh shit, I've got the rest of my life in front of me, what do I do?" mood, and start working on getting better.

Really loving your gesture work. Same goes for the pet sketches. I'd like to see more of your paper sketches in general.

I've got Werewolves on my mind for some reason. This one harkens back to Wolfman, not those prissy werewolves in Twilight.

Back to square one, it seems. Until I get my Cintiq (Monday) I am going to spend some time doing artwork traditionally (and probably after, but I have to try the Cintiq out). Not having the opportunity to really draw from life digitally impounds my ability to draw in Photoshop accurately, so here is the first charcoal drawing of my traditional series.

    Below:
Mason Jar with a baseball on top of it:

I would like note that this was not done from the photograph, I tried to get the same perspective, but I only have a point and shoot and it was hard to get the light and values just right with the camera.

    Some still lives

I did a comparison of one still life using graphite then charcoal, and as messy as charcoal is it is way easier to control. Graphite's annoying.

Keep chugging on those still lives, it'll do you loads of good! buckets of good! Keep going man, on your grayscales try and keep your values as close together as possible, too many dark darks and too many light lights will make your images read strangely. Cheers, good work!

    And I'm Back!

If anyone was wondering, I got a job June 7th, and since then, I haven't found much time to do anything. [READ: Post-work laziness]
When you are working 5 days a week, weekends become the last bastion of hope for some sort of entertainment.
I'm going to try to get back into at least doing something art related, and hopefully with more frequency than I had between June 7th and today, September 5th.
