    Sketchbook

Hello, I finally decided to start sketchbook thread. I'm 24years old female. Like many others I started drawing at early age, but had a lot of breaks.

This sketchbook might be quite boring, cause I'm trying concentrate on studies and won't be uploading any of my doodles. But I hope I'll get some feedback and I won't loose motivation on the way :>

I'll start with showing my "50 Boxes Challenge" which I did from imagination after seeing Scott Robertson dvd about shading. You can see a little improvement. This challenge took me about 1week.

The second challenge I started "1000 Hands Challenge". It's currently in progress.

thanks, I use photo references. I find it difficult to draw with one hand, cause I use my left hand to hold a board on which I draw.

As someone who struggles with hands, I appreciate your hand studies, but I also like your shading studies. I'd like to see you apply the skills you gain from your studies in a more artistic drawing (by that I mean drawings that aren't studies).

Wow, those are some crazy challenges. I'd like to see your doodles, though - some of the stuff I love most on sketchbooks here are the crazy doodles the artist thinks no one else would like, but they really show the artist's unique approach and personality.

Brandon I've always avoided drawing hands as much as possible, so that's why I started doing this challenge to prove myself I can learn to draw hands from imagination (I hope I will :>). I have ideas, but usually I draw them "stickman style" with some notes so I won't forget, but nothing more developed as I can't draw as I imagine.

Seili I know what you mean, cause I spend lots of time in other people sketchbooks ;> Don't know if I should show my old doodles...

Ulver I'll try to update as much as possible, I draw everyday, but usually scan once a week.

For those who are interested in doodles (these are quite old, but haven't doodled recently)

Hey, I have three words for you.. A-MA-ZING! ()
Very nice style, love your characters, and your buildings, I even like the studies on your first page, with the 3d boxes.., they inspired me to try my hand at them..., didn't quite do as well as you, but I'll get there

    Keep posting, this looks great!

Amazing studies. The values are mind blowing, I can never achieve them. It must be annoying to put your hand in those 1000 positions for some time. I can only wish to be as good as you.

    Bunny Dragon thank you

Vay Thanks. I use photo references I found all over the internet :> It would be hard to find 1000 different poses, so I think later on some might duplicate or I'll take some photos myself (that's a better idea >:>). Anyways, as my bf says "You can achieve anything if you want, if you can't it means you didn't want it badly enough".

"I can only wish to be as good as you"

that's what i think when i see artist like Seung Eun Kim [URL="http://kse332.deviantart.com[/URL] or others who draw better than me and even if you learn to draw like them you still won't be satisfied (cause nobody can seek perfection). Do your best and keep thinking positive You'll get better as long as you practice.

Really fantastic studies! I ought to try that 1000 hands challenge. You're so good at them already you'll be a master when you're done!

Wonderful hands! I also like the boxes. You might find helpful reference photographs for upcoming geometrical drawings/studies in my sketchbook (see page 10). I shot many photographs of cubes, cylinders and pyramids today and will upload them step by step. I wish my hand drawings would have more of your constructive style. Keep on posting studies, please!

I said I won't upload any other things than my studies, well I'm a liar >_< Got bored drawing hands so doodled instead.

Used references for poses. But still lots of anatomy/proportion mistakes.

Superb! The shading on those boxes really stands out! I'm also impressed by how intricate that last drawing is, I can never do patterns like that. Very, very good stuff so far!

My only constructive criticism would be to be pay more attention to proportions when you draw without reference, especially head size. Sorry that I'm not qualified to give better advice, but I hope that it helps some!

Whoa, I love your hand and architectural studies. I really should practise hands throughoutly like you do. But wow "1000 hands challenge" sounds tough! Lovely character sketches as well (but it would be nice to see some males and varying body types among them too)!

The values on the boxes are crazy to me 8) I wish I could draw figures like this. All the other stuff of yours looks super nice. I'm interested in seeing more painting from you, this could be really great.

Your studies rock, they look great. Did you use any particular method to learn how to construct the hands/legs? Keep up the good work, they rock.
