    P A V I L I O N art + screens, vederlag EP cover

    Hey 2013!

Thought I would update this first post.
I am currently in the midst of making a game called P A V I L I O N with my friends Henrik Flink and Tony Gerber.
About a year ago we discovered some very interesting gameplay mechanics and have since built a puzzling exploration game around that.

I have many times found myself dreaming away inside classical paintings and wondered how it would be to walk around in Arnold Böcklin or Caspar David Friedrich paintings.
And that is something that I want to try to transfer to P A V I L I O N , to get the feel of moving around inside a painting.
Sometimes I tend to think that the concept art for games are far mor interesting to look at than actually playing the game. Hopefully we will be able to blur that, making the art not just pre production based but in game interactive.

    Feel free to have a look at the P A V I L I O N TEASER TRAILER over at our website:
    www.inthepavilion.com

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Wow -- beautiful work!

The images for what I assume is your portfolio website -- how concerned about file size and load time were you? They look like they'd weigh in pretty large.
I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).

Wow just fabulous work. I just really love just the great details you have with the great color combination's.

And maybe its just my slow internet but when I was looking at your website it took awhile just to load up and see your images.Maybe lower the dpi or size a bit since you don't need them print quality online. But like I said maybe its just me XD.

It wasn't a criticism, I just wondered if you were working with a web guru who had some clever workarounds I could steal. I'm just sitting down to put together my site.

For example, if you slice up the image so the sidebar is the same file on all pages, it only has to load once.

Stoat - Ah, no web guru I did it myself. And I know absolutley nothing about creating websites. I found this thing where you create your website in a program kind of similar to photoshop, except you can't draw things of course. But you have everything in different layers and you can move/drag things around and place them anywhere you like. Then you have some different features that you can add, like galleries, slidshows and stuff like that. It is kind of website building for dummies i guess.
I had that in mind too, to split up the background image to make it load faster, i'll take a look at that during the weekend. At the moment every page is separate, so everything has to load each time you enter a new page. Though if you have visited the page once then go away from it and then go back again it doesn't have to load, just pops up instantly.
And best of luck with your website too! Really like your sketchbook so i bet it will be awesome!

HULKFish - Thanks a bunch HULKFish!

Pavel Sokov - Thanks, I am kind of more into environments at the moment, but that goes kind of back and forth, I guess there is time for a character period soon Yeah, website turned out good a little load heavy though. Thanks again!

Arisholt - Thank you very much! I hope you took a paus looking and catched your breath Thanks!

Rivenis - Thanks! I am a fan of fans

clanlord - Thank you! Yeah, it is just too much fun, I will defenetly keep drawing. Thanks for the inspirational comment!

jbrown67 - Thank you very much! Sometimes i get kind of tired of my whimsical feel to the designs but I guess not being 100% happy with everything you do is a good thing, keeps me to try new stuff and evolve as an artist. I'll keep it up, Thanks!

PenDiablo - Yeah thanks! I haven't played much of those games but I have looked some up and I can defenetly see the resemblance. And I really like to work in that style, blending photos and stuff trying to create some small depths. Took some time making the website but it was a lot of fun.

henrytoy - Thanks a bunch for the genious comment!

asa - Thanks you very much asa! Glad you like it!

Hey, I have a bunch of new stuff that I can't show until later this autumn. But I though I would at least share something. Some small random stuff and some speedpainted moodboards for a pitch movie trailer I worked on about 1,5 years ago, posted some of the mattes I did for that trailer in an earlier post. We were a small team with a thight deadline but it turned out ok in the end. The movie got financed and is soon to be in the making so I guess it served its purpose.
Can't wait to post the new stuff though, but until then...
    Have a nice day you!

Oh my, so much great stuff in here!
    Thanks for sharing!
