    Vanishing Points

For the longest time, I used to use Photoshop 7. Then a couple of years ago, I read in ImagineFX that CS3 has a Vanishing Point filter. So I got a copy of CS3 and tried to make use of the filter as soon as I was able.

I was...disappointed, actually. It's hard to use for me. I can't seem to put the right planes in. I found it was easier to just use the star method to create VPs.

Does anyone else find the VP in CS3 unintuitive and cumbersome, or is it just me? Do any of you guys use other methods when using VP? I'd like to know what's the most efficient way to create proper VPs or perspective.

that feature is useful for already made image, such as photo and helpful for editing as well. basically it's best to make your own using pen tool with 1 to 5 px for stroke depending on image size on its own layer and lower the opacity a bit.

Yes, the PS vanishing point filter is an image editing tool, not an image creation tool.

Well, that's a bummer. :/ Oh well, good thing there a free brush in this month's issue of IFX for actual VPs.

For the most part this is true however you can make a new layer, setup up your left and right vanishing planes with as may grid points as possible, and then print those guides on the new layer as pixels to use as guides. I use this method quite a bit. There's an option in the vanishing point filter menu for this.
