F***ing hell! scribbles? Man your painting skill is so good! I've also fallen in love with your actual ideology behind the characters and weapons. All I can say is keep going...You seem to have a really solid database of knowledge with lighting/shading/colour.

Few questions if you don't mind!

How long have you been into art? How long did those life studies take to complete?

Anyway I'm so glad I'e joined this community, because people like you are on here , so inspirational. Just started my own sketchbook on here!

@pixel cheetah - Oh, you're too kind, the anatomy one took a while, maybe a day and a half on and off working on it - but I get extremely distracted and work very slow. So it'd take someone focused maybe 6 hours? I have no idea lol. Thanks for looking

@Carlos-will - Thanks Carlos, I never thought of the ideology or nothing behind it, but it was for class, and my teachers helped me narrow down to those select design choices. I've been drawing ever since first grade I think, mostly because class was/is boring to me lol. But i started getting more serious the last 2 years. The studies ranged from a few hours to a day, noodling mostly. Glad to see you here Carlos, and am looking forward to your progress!!! =D

You've got some serious stuff here, really cool to see your studies and paintings, sorry ain't got much to crit on these pictures except that i think that is something is missing in them - the "vibe"maybe?- i can't pin point it due to some serious lacking of skills compared to you, but it seems to me that those paintings lack some life in them...that's the best i could explain it without posting a six page reply .

Anyways i think your work is really great and i would definitely would like to see some more!
And don't be frustrated if there aren't a lot of comments, something weird going on these boards lately...people just don't like to comment on art that they actually can't crit.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

I feel there is a lot I can both learn and appreciate from your work. It was great slowly scrolling down from one piece to the next while gasping, and I really appreciate the cleanness and smoothness you produce in every piece. Thank you, good sir. Don't stop posting!

It's looking great, I especially like the sargent study and the portrait. Where are you going to school?

This looks great, take my crit with a grain of salt.

The lower leg (her right leg), seems to be really catching the light on the tibia/shin and the foot that is receding back. I can see where the light source might be coming from, but the contrast is so high in that area, especially with the cast shadow of the left leg, that my eye gets caught there.

If this is intentional, more power to you, if it is like that in the reference, that's fine too, I would take artistic liberty and turn down the contrast there, though.

    Keep it up

@Fallenangel – Thanks for looking, and thanks for the critique, you’re totally right, I need to do more imaginative things, hopefully in the near future. The close replication of reference and what not sucks the life out of it. Thanks again!

    @Candra H – thanks so much!!

@Zulur – Thanks man, I was told by someone much better that just making things clean will make it look that much better, guess it worked =D. Thanks again!!

@Andrew Jen – Yea, you’re totally right about that light – I wondered what was so wrong with it =O. I currently go to Otis, about to start Junior year, 2 years to be a pro =(. Thanks again for the critique!! =D

You work here is just amazing. Your skin tone on that pierced lady is so smooth, it's wonderful to look at, and amazing light value! Great work, loving the fire saber weapon thing! I need to practice!!!

Oh right I see, so what course do you study out of interest? Haha naturally, classes struggled to keep me focused on 'studying' as well lol. It seems like we're in a similar boat tbh! I've taken the last 2 years more seriously too. Also like you said earlier, I take so long and can get distracted, especially by fine unnecessary detailing which don't compliment the actual values or form of my paintings . I dunno if you have that problem too? Looking at these paintings though, they look so clean and well painted! I'm also looking forward to my progress, and I am subscribing to your sketchbook

@sic-side-fx - Thanks so much!! Just aim for the stars!! cheesy right?

@Carlos-will – I’m fortunate enough to go to Otis, on a lot of scholarship, so I take several concept art classes and am fortunate enough to be around supremely skilled teachers. However, depending on financial aid this upcoming year, I might be forced to take a year off. At Otis I’m in the digital media major, which is animation, 3d, etc. Personally motivation for me is to look at successful people (concept artists) and see what and how they do it, and try to match them. I usually procrastinate by looking at other people’s work, but I don’t consider it a waste of time. Also, maybe find a rival, or someone better, try to take them down and then find a new target =D, it sounds cruel but it helps for motivation. Thanks Carlos, hopefully I’ll put up some new things next week.

@Aryeh – Thanks a lot, I’ll try to get some non study stuff up soon just for variety’s sake.

@mrd33ds – thanks man , no YOU rock!!!
