Love your work, Xnatje! You have a great skill with ink and water paint. Your portraits are beautifully made. I noticed also that you are improving significantly.
I'd Love to see more from your art.

Thank you all three! I'm glad you want to see more!

insanelight: I always love darker drawings/paintings, so I try to incorporate that in my work aswell.

new sketch from yesterday. I felt like throwing my sketchbook to the wall! (which means the drawing is not good)
I think the size (A4) is too large for felt tip. and ofcourse everything is out of proportion.
Maybe I better don't work in sketchbooks, so I can put my bad sketches far away, as far as possible!

Your use of inks and watercolours are lovely, the bird skulls on the previous page are my favourite so far. Keep it up!

Maybe I should go back to my ink, even though I'm tired of it. My pencil work sucks.

Thanks for the advice. My mother has a big nose, so I tend to draw everyone's nose quite big.

I 'finished' the big drawing today.
I am not sure if it's really finished, or if I should still work on it. I'll see what the teachers say (the haven't seen it yet!)

I have also a photo of me working on it, so you can see the size a bit

Drawing daddy again... I miss some depth. Should I make the background darker or? That's why I hate watercolor, everything is so light. And that's what makes it easy aswell.. you can't go dark, so you don't have to be afraid to make it too dark. meh.. anyway, mixed media piece: ink, watercolor, ecoline, negro pencil.

And now I'm off to bed

    Okay, some big work again!
The first one is the one I started yesterday. It's not yet finished. It's 1,5m wide and I guess almost 2m heigh (I can't touch the top part!)
The rest are 3 drawings I made on (pressed) wood I found. It's made with handmade black (but it turned into blueish gray) pigment stick (pigment + gips), charcoal and black pastel chalk. These are smaller (I guess it can be compared to an A3-A2). I really like the artist that teaches us now for 3 days. At least she gives more advice.
Sorry for the messy pictures bytheway.

I bought today some new materials, for example a black oil pastel stick. I love the fact you can go completely black.
I made this weekend also some sketches, but i haven't taken the time (because I went photographing) yet to take pictures of it.

Here is the oil pastel portrait anyway

You've really leveled up in this sketchbook and it shows! I like how you always present a good deal of depth in your drawings, you emphasize near and far well. Some of your portraits lack structure - features are in the wrong place, noses are too long, etc. I recommend looking up Prokopenko on youtube. They're excellent tutorials, and I've been studying them myself. Maybe I'll post my sketches from his work at some point.

That lady in the dark is actually me! But I plan on making more of these (really big) drawings with a similar theme. Maybe I'd better upload them to the finished section then the sketchbook. But I prefer to put everything together to keep control over it.

Didn't take any pictures of my sketches yet.. But I made a new drawing. Actually, I think I should upload them in the finished section, but I'm a bit afraid since my work isn't really concept art.
But I finally found myself a bit back. and I can draw a line now between finished artwork and practice sketches.

Some photoshop nose practicing. something I haven't done in years. I did this on my laptop with touchpad, so without tablet (because the usb doesn't work well anymore ), so it was quite difficult this way. I like the nose, but I hate the eyes. time is +- 1,5 hour I think

I'm a bit afraid to fall into doing the same over again, to handle some kind of strategy. However I only made a few selfportraits-in-abandoned-places-draings/paintings
these two are small. I'm working on a bigger drawing at school aswell, similar to the one with the sky in this post. But I haven't made a picture yet.
The small drawing is as usual in ink. The selfportrait this time is acrylic on canvas (quite small.. +-25x30cm)

    update

i think it's not really the place here for me. I don't make concept art, I make traditional works, which are absolutely not related to concept art at all.

Wow Xnatje! Excellent black and white acrylic work, i love it.
Let loose your imagination, and you'll be able to draw concept art easily. I believe that you have the basics on which you can venture to fantasy, and conceptual art. If you don't see yourself as being capable of imagining art and being wild at that, then you may not like concept art, afterall.
Any way, you have a very good talent, and if traditional art is your thing, then, so be it. All the best to you!

I really like the two outdoor pictures you did, the brushwork is reminiscent of Van Gogh. I really like the sense of light and brooding shadows in some of the work.

I like your images of the drawings you do, the fact that you can see some of the space as well. It gives it more
personality. The big portraits and the scooter you drew are lovely! I like the scooter in particular, the values and
the good firm edges. Regarding your pencil work, I read in a post a while ago that you consider that you suck at it
and you want to go back to ink. just keep practicing, you're getting better with each drawing. So don't stop.
I've read somewhere once that you have some "bad" drawing in your system that is piled up over your "good" drawing,
and you have to get the bad one out first, to get to the good one. So draw, draw till you get all the bad out!
It comes out each time And good work in here so far, post more!
