Meeeh. I'm not one of those people that gets excited when someone creates a new medium in an attempt at going with the flow of contemporary art.
The paintings aren't much more then sketches afterall.
Maybe if an opposite approach was used and somebody painted on an extremely large surface, that would be a bit more compelling.
But thats just me..

I remember there was one guy who made little carvings and painted them using the hair from a fly. I think he inhaled one of his pieces by accident.
