    2009 Part 2 – Pages from vacation.
For a long time I wasn't satisfied with my drawings. I felt they're not mine.
After a long brake, i read a book "Experiential drawing" by Robert Dvorak and it let me found other way to draw.

Velocity Kendall, i'm glad you like it.
I would like to write much more about my sketches, but my writing english is poor so i don't.

    2009 Part 3 – ZOO
Before 2009 my drawing were very unnatural, because i aimed at realism. It was very stressfull, drawings were rigid. I knew that it's wrong and i stopped drawing for almost 3 years. Critical moment was, when i found blind drawing exercise (in my case it was in the book i mentioned earlier in this thread). I understood, that i needed different approach to drawing.

amazing lines, I love your style, very original and interesting to look at. Have you tried adding some colours? I think solid pure colours would fit so well with your lines

Thank you for all kind words.

velvetcat – these drawing were made very fast. The idea was to draw once and never return to earlier drawings. I drew at bus, waiting for my wife etc. Sometimes i had to stop right after start sometimes i i had little more time. So i choose fountain pen and brush pen (will be soon).
I use color (mostly watercolor) but i'm little afraid of it. Color works are rather fast (like sketches) but i need much time for them.

    2010 Part 1 – Waiting
Today I want to show first sketches from 2010. I used two fountain pens: one with calligraphy nib and one with flexible F golden nib. I like drawing with flexible nibs because i think that my drawings are more dynamic and respond to my mood.
I would like to know what your impressions are?

    2010 Part 2 – Abstract
This are drawings based on experiments from book "Spirit of Drawing" by Connie Smith Siegel. I think it is great book when you need to change something in technique. It teaches how to incorporate all senses to drawing. It was great time for me, working with this book. There will be more images soon.
These three are about sensing the world around.

1984 liuyu: I'm very happy you like it. Drawing this way was very big step for me. For years I was trying to draw with realism, but it was unnatural for me.

    2010 Part 3 – Feeling movement experiment
This is next experiment after "Spirit of drawing". Here is my try. There are 5 steps:
Step 1. Draw an object (tree, flower etc.) as realisitic as you can.
Step 2. Look at the object for a while and draw it with eyes closed. Try to feel movement.
Step 3. Look again and draw movement with eyes closed.
Step 4. Look again (as long as you need) and draw it with sensing movement again.
Step 5. Look at the object and draw it with eyes open, trying to incorporate feeling movement from previous drawing.
I was suprised after this experiment. It was so big difference (and improvement IMHO) before first and fifth drawing.

I hope you'll like this experiment and apologies for all mistakes.

Samajn – Thank you very much. I'm trying to enjoy drawing.

    2010 Part 6 – Sounds
These drawings are made while listening world around me. This is an incredible feeling, when you're trying to draw talking people or noisy street. Different lines, rythms, directions. Of course you can't repeat any of them.

Those steps above are certainly interesting, i'm gonna try it out sometime.

your linework varies so much, i guess the only thing i'd like to see is you focus on one particular thing you really enjoy, i support full experimentation, but nothing wrong with really jumping into a subject

either way, incredibly interesting approach, and thanks for sharing, drawing occasionally feels like a chore, but a lot of what i'm doing now are studies..shrug

swing by my book sometime, maybe you have some thoughts

    keep posting, cheers!!
    ...the imperfections make it interesting...

Dope Friend: Thank you for your thoughts, i appreciate it. I started drawing a long time ago. It was a time i thought i can draw like people here. After many disappointments i understood it is not my way (i hope it will change). One particular thing i enjoy is drawing and it makes me happy. My linework change because it responds to my mood. Sometimes i don't recognize my works but i like all of them .
I would like to share my approach. Maybe someone is bored and feels that he has stopped. Maybe this will help to find pleasure in drawing again.

Today drawings i made with closed eyes. I tried to feel world around me, and my face, body from inside. This is great experiment, when you close your eyes and try to feel what happens with your face. This is from "Spirit of drawing" too.
