sorry for the slow updates!
Ive been busy with my new job, I actually got my first real art job and I am over the moon
its not totally appealing work but I get to paint and thats more than I could ask for, SO MUCH BETTER THAN WORKING IN RETAIL hahaha
So yeah, I've been painting backgrounds for a chinese themed animation about old chinese medicines, its great!
The scariest thing I've learnt from this whole experience though is how tough the job market actually is and how important it is to network. I wouldn't have heard of this job if my friend didn't work there or tell me about it. Really need to work on getting myself out there as well as working on my craft.
ANYWAY
Heres an environment I did today, played with layering textures and painting over, something I've never really done.
Hey! congrats on your new job! You've got really nice and inspiring sketchbook! And the last piece is pretty impressive! keep it up

Sweet studies.
Good idea with the schedule. I should try something similar.
nice schedule, but sketching 1 hour everyday isn't enough dude haha ! Anyway, i think you should spend a bit more time studying values, since i see it's where you struggle the most, and pay a bit more attention on edges, especially on the face studies on the previous page !! Keep it up !
The Electric Ant- Thanks so much
Velocity Kendall- glad you like it! thank you
Christoffer- You should! my advice would be to start small with it, its really easy to say you are going to practice 5 hours a day compared to actually doing it, focus on what you actually know you can handle and then build from there
kikindaface- Thanks for the tips! I agree, my values are pretty weak overall, I think my figures from imagination are probably even worse. Agreed! gotta push more sketching time![]()
Congrats on the new job also if you havent done it yet always bring a mini sketchbook with you do some sketches on break
udonhead I work mainly from home so thats no problem!![]()

Great environments. Love the one you polished up from post 295 great colors
The cubes are a great study for perspective
