    Rescent work

Hi everyone. Been a while since I posted so I figured I'd update you on what I've been doing lately. Of course as I work in the film industry most of what I've done the last year can't be shown yet so some of it is a bit older. There's more work on my website if anyones interested.

Nice stuff. I absolutely love your brushwork. Especially in the piece with the cloud formation. That is just beautiful.
And a robot who demands sausages. Thats just tops.

Thanks for the comments guys. Glad to hear you enjoyed them. Here is a new image i finished yesterday. I'm working alot on how far you can go with the roughness of what's outside the focal point. Fun to experiment with. This was done using artrage first and then adding details in photoshop.

Is there a link to your website? I can't see one.

I am one of the few people who saw Centurion. I enjoyed it.

    Nice work.

I did have a look-see in your profile but clearly didn't look hard enough. Thanks.

Centurion is a simple action chase film... it doesn't try to be anything more than that and it worked for me. I tend to like historical films so I guess I was always the target audience.

    Wow great atmosphere!

1 thing though, the figures in the topmost picture seem kinda off to me for some reason. Particularly the pose of the one on the left looks a bit stiff.

    Monster

Velocity> Glad you enjoy it. It was quite a task concepting that stuff, but good fun.

TIB> Thanks! Oh and yeah maybe the figure is a bit stiff. Always hard doing really natural poses if you're not doint it from reference i find.

Figured I'd share this with you all. While i do alot of regular photoshop concept art, I also work in 3d at times. So this is actually a mix of 3d and 2d.
I started this in zbrush and did a not too detailed model and then did some different lighting passes and material renders using the BPR render in zbrush. Then I comped them together in photoshop and did all the skin detail and eyes and all textures basically. Mostly finding good texture and using overlay mode to get them working together with the underlying layers. I also hand painted bits of it (small details here and there and the saliva). I find it's a great technique for concepting creatures. You can get some pretty sweet results over just a couple of days work (about 3 in this case).

Those prince of persia pieces are pretty beastly. So is that newest beasty. It's very creepy, especially the eyes.
