    Unhappy Acrylic abomination

    Hi there
So I tried using acrylics and tried painting on a canvas, and so far, I love doing it, but what I've created seems so horrendously ugly to me, that I really need your help to make this seem like less of a waste of paint.

Any criticism is appreciated, I know the area around the arm needs a lot of work, but if you could tell me what exactly has to happen, I'm all ears.

    Thanks in advance, anyway.

I think I need a concept sketch or more of a description of what you were going for before I can give a really good critique but my first pointer is that it could probably use alot more contrast. More really dark areas and more really bright areas.

"This is a paint and pixel-splattered furnace that forges the swords of artistic mastery. This is a place where swarthy and belligerent dwarves drink turpentine mead, berate their apprentices and slap the trade into their skulls. It's where the anvils are made of graphite, the hammers are as true as rectangular marquee selections and the fires burn with the light of a thousand lensflares." --Jason Rainville

You just need to work on basic drawing and anatomy more. Until you understand how to draw the forms you can't paint them.
    What would Caravaggio do?
